POFQ or CSR

I am so torn, I have booked POFQ for April 21-28. It will be myself,DH,DS 7, DS 6. I love how small POFQ is and the boat to DTD but I also love the look of CSR, I am just mainly worried about it's size. Can anyone compare the two, esp when it comes to bus service. Currently there is no discount for my POFQ trip, but if I switched to Coronado I could save $336 with the spring room discount. Hoping if we decide to stay with POFQ a package discount will come out in the near future.

I don't think POFQ is worth the $336 more it currently costs over CSR. That time of year could be a busy one, and I've found that the resorts which are more spread out seem less busy. We were there in September, which is low crowds, and POFQ felt crowded to us. We could not get a seat in the food court in the morning and since there is only one bus stop, it was always crowded with people running to the front as a bus pulled up. But the boat to DTD is nice. It's also nice to share facilities with POR but IMO, the walk is too long, at least for us, to use the other resort's facilities regularly. If the prices were the same, it would be a toss up but since you can save almost $400 by switching to CSR, I would pick that any day.

I go to WDW 4-5 times a year and have pretty much settled on the moderates as my resorts of choice. I have stayed at all four more than once. CSR and POFQ are my two favorites and in fact I just got back from CSR last week, will be at POFQ in Feb, CSR in May, and back at POFQ in Sept and Oct/Nov. The only reason I'm not at CSR for the Sept/Oct trip is that it was not available under the bounceback for those dates (unless I went with a King room). Saying all of that, I have been at CSR in Sept. Oct, Dec, and May. I have been at POFQ in Sept, Dec, Jan, and May. Consistently we've gotten better bus service at CSR. Each resort has it's own pros and cons.

CSR has better bus service, better food court at night (as of Dec 4th breakfast and lunch are now CS buffets at the Pepper Market--great deal if you are on the DDP), plus they have Cafe Rix (so really two CS) a TS restaraunt, nicer pool, longer pool slide, biggest hot tub on property, three quiet pools, a lounge that is adult only after certain hours, a health club/beauty salon, a much better kids playground area, and more comfortable beds. (I have stayed at both resorts within the last year since the refurbishments). We also love the white beaches and hammocks in the Cabanas and the lovely fountains in the Casitas. Because it is so spread out, it does not feel as crowded as POFQ. It's a very relaxing resort.

POFQ is so small no room is very far from anything and we love the boat to DTD. However, they do not have a TS restaurant. They don't have any quiet pools, but because they are sister resorts you can use all the pools at PORS. We also love Elliot Dyson's show in the lounge. Being from the south, we love the nice southern atmosphere around POFQ and PORS. Of course CSR has a nice southwest feel that we like too.

I love both resorts and among the moderates I'd have to say CSR and POFQ are pretty much tied for first place in my affections, with CSR getting the edge by just a tad. For over $300.00 difference it'd be a no brainer for me to go with CSR though.

This is a matter of preference and you are going to get a lot of different opinions. We stayed at POFQ in 2010 and CSR in 2011. We were extremely disappointed in CSR and had wished we had gone back to POFQ. We decided that we prefer the smaller resorts and the convenience, rather than the enormous. But that is our preference and what works for our family. Personally, POFQ is worth the 300+ to us....there would be no discussion lol

We've stayed at both (sometimes the same trip like this summer) and I prefer POFQ to CSR though I'd stay at either again. We stay at CSR because of a conference held there every 2 years but the theming and pools are beautiful. However it can be a HUGE schlep to the main pool from your room if you have to walk around the lake.

The thing I dislike most about CSR is the Pepper Market though - I hate that place on every level (food and price). I don't think making it into a buffet is going to help cause the buffet is really pricey. If you have the dining plan then at least you aren't out $100 trying to each lunch here. And the cherry on top is that by the time I'm done getting my kids something and waiting forever for it - and getting them back to the table then getting my food - and waiting forever for it - they are done eating! I haven't made it work to be able to wait in 2 lines at once and I don't want what they're getting.

POFQ has more choices at more price points for breakfast and is just a lovely place. If you can deal with Pepper Market (I try to avoid it) then no reason to try CSR.

I have stayed at three and I prefer CSR then POFQ and I did not care for POR. CSR has a beautiful pool that can't be beat. It has a more deluxe feel to it. If you are comparing size of CSR to POR, they are both large resorts. POFQ is smaller. The bus service is better at CSR since it is not sharing buses.

We have stayed at only the CSR and love everything about it (you can pay for a preferred room if you wish to be close to the main building...but it will put you farther from the pool). We have visited all of the other moderates and POFQ would be the second last of the mods we would choose (if we couldn't get CSR we would pick POR-Riverside); the several times we have visited POFQ the hot tub has been filled to capacity (way too small) and there are no quiet pools; I know you can use the pools at POR, but if I'm going to walk from resort to resort to use the quiet pools, I can stay at my choice of moderate where they have them and walk...it wouldn't be any longer than walking from resort to resort). The POFQ theme also doesn't do it for me.

I would go with the theme that appeals to you the most.

POFQ is excluded in the spring discounts? What about POR-Riverside? That's our fav resort. I love the boat to DTD, evening family entertainer in the lounge- Bob Jackson puts on a great show, and the theming/landscapping is beautiful.

I haven't stayed at CSR, but to save $336 I might try it.
