With the new code, we switched from POP to CBR. We wanted a mod with a fridge and more room...plus AKL and WL weren't available for our dates :( Anyway, we've never stayed at CBR and I hope I made the right choice. We will be going with our 8 month old and taking things at a slower, laid back pace. We've stayed at POFQ twice before and loved it, but we wanted to try somewhere new.

I know that the main pool is closed, but they've added some water slides to the other pools, which is of no big concern to us. But will I regret the walk to the counter service or the bus service to the parks?

Thanks!
Kassi

Port Orleans French Quarter is my FAVORITE moderate. :woohoo: :thumbsup2 :yay: I LOVE this resort!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc The resort is small & compact, so it's easy to get everywhere here. You can request a room in building 5. It's close to everything. The pool is nice and the hot tub is tucked away behind the pool bar. The grounds are really pretty and quaint. I have always had great service here. The food in the foodcourt was good & the beignets are great and very addicting. The buses share sometimes with POR, but ALWAYS picks up and drops off first at POFQ. I really have not run into any trouble with buses here.

Stayed at CBR once and won't go back. WAY too spread out for my taste and had awful experiences with CM's at check-in, mousekeeping, etc. Also did not care too much to have to walk across a dimly lit parking lot at night from the buses (first time ever I was nervous at WDW!!).

Have stayed at both (POFQ twice), prefer POFQ before the politically correct brigade had it coupled with Dixie Landings!

CBR is a nice resort. We hardly ever used the big pool as our children were very young non swimmers. As long as you're aware the resort is very large and spread out you should be fine. Its a nice walk around the lake although I did find it tiring having to drive to the food court as it was about a 15 minute walk

I've stayed at CBR and POFQ twice each. Just got back from POFQ 2 weeks ago. I don't hate CBR but prefer POFQ. I like the smallness of the resort. I love the pool. Love the boat to Downtown Disney. Love to wander to POR. And during our stay this month at POFQ, we did not share busses with POR. So once we were picked up, we were on our way. Bussses took forever to get around CBR.

I've stayed at both, and my personal preference is CBR, primarily because I prefer the theming there. Both are good resorts and have their plusses and minuses. Things like poor mousekeeping, rude CM's and spotty bus service can happen at any resort at any time, and it's probably best not to let someone's one-time negative experience influence your own choice of a resort. I've never had a problem with mousekeeping at CBR, bus service has generally been very good and the CM's have been pleasant. Yes, the resort is large and somewhat spread out, but for me that adds to the generally peaceful and quiet atmosphere. And because of the bridge across the lagoon, I never felt I had to walk all that far. If you want a smaller and more intimate resort, then CBR isn't for you. But otherwise, it has no more or less issues than any other moderate.

We also switched from Pop to CBR yesterday when the discount came out. We will be there 8/12 to 8/17. We wanted either of CBR or POFQ. Since we'd just stayed at POFQ in April and we haven't stayed at CBR since DD was 2 -- 11 years ago -- I decided to book CBR. The rooms are a tad bit bigger than the other moderates and I'm looking forward to the beach theme.

I do remember thinking it was a long walk from our room to the main building, but it's a very pretty walk. When we were there last time, DH got sick and the housekeeper was such a sweetie. DD and I had gone to the parks that day and let DH rest. The housekeeper brought him chicken noodle soup at lunchtime.

I feel like I made the right choice and it is the same choice the original poster made!
:thumbsup2

Truthfully, we have never stayed at any of the moderates except for CSR (our favorite Disney resort). However, we have visited all of them, seen the rooms, walked around the resort grounds, eaten at the food courts, etc. If we were to ever try any other moderate resort other than CSR, we would choose POFQ. We think it is a beautiful resort and it is small and quaint. It also has the boat to Downtown Disney. We did not like the themeing of CBR and their food court was the worse we had ever dined at.

However, it all comes down to personal opinion in the end and I'm sure you'll be happy wherever you decide.

I completely agree with everything you said. We have stayed at both. We would go back to POFQ and would not go back to CBR.

We stayed at CBR last August and it was very nice but way too large for us. We will be at POFQ in 2 weeks! We cannot wait to get back again!

We like CBR and have enjoyed staying there very much.

Just FYI - many sites are reporting that the pool is likely to be completed by early August. :cool1: Good luck!
