POFQ noisy for late sleepers?

I've read alot of positive posts re:POFQ and the theme appeals to me. We want to try it to stretch our budget for our trip this fall and stay part of the time at a moderate.

But I have also read that some people found the A/C units to be loud and another who noticed the housekeepers allowed the room doors to slam regularly when cleaning the rooms each morning.

We are two adults who like to sleep in on vacation - we don't get to the parks early, nor are we up early with children. So, have any adults who like to sleep in stayed at POFQ and what is your take on the noise level?

We have stayed SoG, GF, AKL and Poly before - all with interior hallways and were never disturbed by loud noises. I am hoping this won't be a major problem at POFQ - esp. the slamming doors.

I know asking for a quiet bldg. would help when it comes to other guests but the issues I mentioned here don't involve the guests but rather the resort or workers themselves.

Would appreciate some feedback. Thanks!

Welcome to the DIS, Rhonna!

I have stayed at the POFQ four times over the years, and I have only heard noise from outside of my room twice in all the times I've stayed there! That's one of the reasons I keep on staying there.

If you are concerned about the maids slamming doors nearby, try requesting a room in an area where the rooms will be made up later in the day. It might mean that your room won't be ready until later in the day, but if this is important to you, that should be an issue.

Have a great stay!

We just got back and stayed in bldg 5 facing the hot tub (a rather busy locale) and did not find the noise to be disturbing at all. We usually were up by 9am but would come back to the room for a quiet nap around 3 or 4. Have fun.

We stayed in bldg 4 and didn't experience any problems with noise. My kids usually slept in until 9 or so and were never woke up by any noise. One nite around 10 pm there was a group of about 4 kids that were running up and down the halls yelling, but someone came out of their room and asked them to please stop and they did. Other than that, no probs whatsoever. Good luck and have a great time!

Is there a map online somewhere that shows the locations of the buildings and pools?

I'd like to be near the main pool for my daughter, plus close to food court and bus stops. Maybe even pool side...

LOVE being near a pool...

What surprised me was the use of gas engine “Cushmans” at night. We were on the ground floor and on our first night there was a guy delivering pizza in one of the little white motor vans, (we would call them a Cushman here in KS). It had a rather loud go-cart motor and a yellow flashing light (most of the ones we saw on the grounds were the much quieter battery powered style). I admit that it was early in the night (about 10pm), but we were in bed and trying to go to sleep. It was nothing major but I thought I would post because you were worried about the sound level. Getting a non-ground floor room would take care of this. We loved POFQ, I am sure you will have a great time.

Thanks everyone, we plan to try POFQ. Hope we can bring back a good report.

My DH and I stayed at bldg #1 on the second floor on the end and found it to be pretty quiet. If you hear any door slamming it could also be your neighbor leaving his/her room. My DH and I try to make it a point not to let the door slam but more often than not most people don't give it a second thought.

The only place I ever found to be completely quiet was at a log cabin. No television allowed either. It was heavenly!

I was there last week in building 5 facing the pool area and had no problem with noise. We are early risers however. I did notice on our way to breakfast ( between 8 and 9) that they were using leaf blowers to clear off the walkways on front of the rooms. I thought that wasn't too considerate for those trying to sleep in!

DBF and I are also night owls, and sleep in at WDW. We were in building 7 3rd floor facing the parking lot, and it was fairly quiet. I did awaken to some vacuum-like noise and door slamming, but that was not quite as bad as the one early morning when a family (or two) had young children running around the hallways, and they ran back and forth past our door probably 4 times before they finally left.
I never understand how people can be so inconsiderate, and not ask their children to quiet down and not run. Especially with an outdoor corridor setup, noise travels very easily, and the hollow sound of the hallway is very loud when kids are trampling around.
But, whatever, I was just glad it only happened once. That's not bad considering how many times it happened to us when we stayed at CSR or CBR. Heh. I just let out a big sigh, rolled my eyes, and then went back to sleep. :p
