When we were there in December. The hot chocolate machine was broken We than it worked and when it did work the hot chocolate was awful and not at all like the hot chocolate. In the parks or even like we had the previous year at AS movies. Does anyone know if they have upgraded there machine

The hot chocolate at Disney for the most part is as bad as their coffee. It has canola oil, corn syrup, and a bunch of other garbage in it. You can check out the ingredients on one of the tins of it that they sell.

I think, personally, that some form of chocolate or cocoa should be the main ingredient in any hot chocolate, not the 4th as it was when I looked at the tin of the Disney swill.

I would stick with the hot chocolate at Ghirardelli unless someone knows of another place that sells real hot chocolate.

ETA: I am looking at a tin of Disney hot chocolate right now. Here is the ingredient list:

Suar, whey, non-fat dry milk, Dutch cocoa, partially hydrogenated canola oil, corn syrup solids, natural and artificial flavors, gum, salt.

To compare the ingredient list on Trader Joe's sipping chocolate:

Cocoa Powder, Cane Sugar, Chocolate Liquor, Cocoa Butter.

bring swiss miss packets and get hot water. It'll taste much better than the hot chocolate out of the machine

I believe Disney uses Nestle's hot chocolate at most, if not all, their restaurants ever since the Nestle Company took over sponsorship of The Land (replacing Kraft). That's also why the coffee, except at Kona, is Nescafe'. Some restaurants mat tweek their hot chocolate a bit, but it's mostly Nestle's.

We were there in May, two machines one on each side...DH is a hot chocolate lover and he hated this...it was like brown scalding hot water.

I usually just dump a ton of cream from the dispenser into mine . . . that helps. B/c I don't like coffee enough to drink the Nescrape.

Maybe I'm nuts, but I thought I noticed a slight upgrade between Pop's HC and the Wilderness Lodge's HC . . . it tasted slightly better at WL. Maybe I'd just gotten used to it though??

Thanks for the info everyone. I was really hoping that it just hadn't been upgraded when it seems ASMov just hadn't been downgraded yet :sad2:
