Just wondering if anyone out there has ever reserved a standard room, but been given a king bed room.

We were only able to reserve a standard room for POFQ in early December under the AP Best Rate program, and just wondering if there is ANY hope of being given a king bed upon check-in.

This might factor heavily into our keeping our reservation at POFQ, or moving it to the BWI...

Thanks for your help!

We were given an upgrade to a king back in 2000.

My parents were given a king bed upgrade last summer. My guess is that if you are a couple and they have the space available then they will give you the upgrade. I've always wondered why they mods charge for a king when none of the other resorts do.

Funny. I was just moaning on another thread about how I never got upgraded at WL!

Anywhoo. we have stayed at POR (Dixie landings to me always) about 10 times and of those 10 times we got a king size bed about 3 times.

We were upgraded to a King room at POR when I mentioned that we were there for our anniversary during check-in. We were given a water view room at one of the "mansions"; great location. After coming back from the parks one day we found a photo of the castle signed by Mickey and Minnie congratulating us on our anniversary in our room. Nice touch! :earsboy:

I would have been more than happy to pax the $15 extra per night and reserve the king room, but it wasn't available under the AP Best Rate Plan - only standard - and I'll take my chances versus paying rack rate. :scared:

However, we're weighing the idea of changing our last 2 nights from POFQ to BWI for a number of reasons, and I know I at least have a shot of getting a king bed room at a deluxe since you don't pay extra to reserve them. Just wanted to see what others' experiences were at POFQ so I was dealing with realistic information.
