Poems for every invitation??

Is this poem thing big where y'all live? I swear every shower invitation I receive is written as a poem. My SIL,whom I love dearly, thinks she is the poetess emeritus of the world. She writes poems for birthdays, anniversaries, every occassion that occurs. This is not hers but is an example and sad to say-a good one:
"They decided to get married
Their decision was not harried."
UGHH. This is the norm. Let's just say that Emerson is not threatened.
Tomorrow,I'm meeting with some people about a shower and I plan to make my feelings known-nicely.
Do these things make you crazy?

I hate bad poetry. I think that's why I hate rap music--it's mostly bad poetry. I hate when the meter is muddled or it's obvious a word is chosen just because it rhymes, without regard to the meaning of the phrase Rhyming invitations just seem silly to me

My MIL does the exact same thing. She'll send them to me all proud and I just don't have the heart to tell her how silly I think they are.

Down where we are, you see invites both with and without poems. When I helped out with invites for my friend's bridal shower, it did NOT contain any kind of poem b/c I knew she would not dig that. Instead, I made them very straightforward with the bride's name and the address, date, time; and also that it was given by her bridesmaids. It did contain a scripture verse about love- b/c my friend is a very spiritual person and I knew that she would appreciate that.
