I think maybe we overanalyze too much

It's a Disney podcast. Not "Days of Our Lives"

And post of the day goes to HubbDave!

Some people on this board have really gone nuts trying to dissect and analysis every aspect of the podcast... looking for faults and tension. Tone it down, people!

Let's get onto more important issues... Mickey Bar or Dole Whip?

This has nothing to do with the topic being discussed in this thread (which isn't ridiculous at all!) but are you guys really at the table for 4+ hours? Interesting. I guess I just assumed that you all got there like 10-15 minutes before the show starts.

We get there 30 - 40 minutes before the show starts and usually finish at 3:30pm approximately.

Add to that the hour drive each way and it makes for a long Tuesday.

There was no tension. Pete is passionate in his defense of SeaWorld. JenniLyn was saying that SeaWorld's own defense was not pragmatic or effective. She was not debating the merits of SeaWorld itself, just pointing out their preposterous and idiotic response from a business perspective.

If you feel SeaWorld is good for animals, you should be concerned about their bungling of the situation -- SeaWorld's pathetic response was almost as damaging as the Blackfish documentary itself, as they are no longer in a very good position to continue. That is all JL was saying. Pete is smart enough to know the difference between argument and conversation. Ahem.

I might add that the segment in question was marvelous listening...articulate, passionate, insightful, enlightening and interesting. Its exactly what separates the DisUnplugged (at its best) from the other podcasts that either get their scripts from Disney (Mongello) or blather about nothing. Pete's opinions are a lightning rod, and while I don't always agree with him, he always facilitates the best conversation. I think he'd be crushed if he were perceived as too bossy or too much of a bully to be disagreed with.

Whoa - Ok folks.... Maybe I should back up a minute. At times my humor does not come across correctly. I was just trying to poke a little fun there. After re-reading my own post i realize that it did not come across the way I wanted it to. Sorry about that.

I really do not sit there and analyze the crew - trust me, most of the time I and switching between them and something on TV.

Some of it I was serious about - becasue I think this thread shed JL in a bad light somehow, and I don't want her to think we don't like her or anything like that - I may not agree with her sometimes, but she is awesome in my opinion - as is everyone else. There is not one person I do not like on the podcast.

My remark about getting banned was becasue they deleted my post parodying a frozen song about unemployent, I was being snarky, not serious :)

I really didn't notice any difference this week. Certainly not any differences that would lead me to conclude who likes whom, who hates whom, and who wants to punch whom in the face. To the extent that people picked up on tension in the SW segment, it wasn't the first time. There are some very firmly held beliefs around that table and debates ensue. How could that not be the case? Given the subject matter of the documentary and the way it was produced, edited and presented, it is hard to imagine people not getting hot under the collar over the subject. The entire mess breeds negativity, whether in the feelings toward the documentary itself, or in the feelings toward the subject matter of large mammals bred and held in captivity. There are no "feel good" moments either way. But I certainly did not get the sense that anyone's views were being cut off, dismissed or disrespected. But what do I know. I haven't spent the last year of my life going back to listen to the entire library of podcast episodes.

And.... if they really were a tense group of folks, I would not be listening to them.

***rethinking the wisdom of my post in the first place***

Did someone throw a trident?

"cannot see the forrest though the trees."

Kevin has a large stick under the table and he hits people in the knees with the stick to make them look uncomfortable.

I guess I will have to wait for the next episode of "As the Podcast turns."

Will John find out about his half-step uncle's niece's surgery?
Will Teresa reveal the name of the father of the triplets?
Will Will's will reveal who is the recipant of his art?
Etc...

:rolleyes1

A little known condition of appearing on the podcast via Skype is that you have to hire someone to whack you with a stick at random off camera. Mine is named "Cato." :rolleyes1
