Podcast Segment About Teresa's Daughter

Lugnut33....I just went through and read all 10-11 pages....I'm so sorry that you got beat up with that thread. I found nothing wrong with what you wrote, or what you did. The bottom line is, that you and your family had a wonderful vacation and you did what you wanted to do. A Disney vacation is different for each of us. I personally like to stay on property, be picked up at the airport, eat on the DDP and use Disney transportation...that works for us...it may not work for others, and that's ok. Your tips were great !!

I might be in the same position next year when I take my DGD to Orlando during spring break. My sister is going to let us stay in their resort off property and I will be renting a car. Most certainly...I will go to Publics and buy some food to cook and eat in the condo. That will give me more money to do other things with her off property.

I see nothing wrong with saving money where you can.

Am catching up on the shows after 10 wonderful nights at WDW, and just listened to the segment from the Aug.17th show about sending Teresa's daughter into the parks with little or no money. I am curious to know if there has been any reaction to that segment?

When I got back I posted a thread about how we saved a lot of money by eating off-site and back in our 1 bedroom Kidani villa this time rather eating in WDW restaurants for the whole trip. I'm guessing we save around $600 by doing this.

The reaction to the thread really surprised me because all I wrote about was what our family did on the trip. I was accused of being cheap, poor, ignorant, petty, egotistical, and to top it all off, a bad parent because we didn't eat every meal at a WDW property. Somebody even went so far as to say we were losers because we spent time swimming back at the resort. I found myself on the defensive and probably should have just ignored the angry masses. Here's the thread, it went to 10 pages in one day before it was mercifully closed.

Anyways, I'm wondering if the Podcast received any feedback like that about the segment? Were people upset that you would send your daughter into the parks with little money? Personally, I thought it was a great segment.

I too am sorry that you got a bad response. However maybe those people don't listen to the podcast so didn't hear the segment. I'm sure they might have been just as closed minded about that.

Like Frank we don't have a car when we go it just isn't how we want to holiday. However if we did we would eat off property a lot more for many reasons...

I think that it's really good to save a bit of money, if you want to do that. I also believe that T has probably taught Grace a valuable lesson. Of course she more than likely doesn't think so now, but if she has her own children, they'll get a "Well my Mum made me...

And you must also remember

THAT DOLLAR YOU DIDN'T SPEND IS ANOTHER FOR NEXT TIME!!!

Roy

I just finished reading the rest of that thread... It would also seem they think there is nothing outside of Disney. Leave property are you MADDDDD? Experience something NEW on holiday!!!

I'm with you all the way Lugnut!
