Podcast Cruise 3.0 - 06/24/2012

Sooo....DH is insisting I say hi, and try to make some DIS friends for the cruise. I'm gonna round that opening off by saying that I'm very shy, and rarely ever post on ANY of the threads I read, just to be sure I don't make an a#s of myself.
This being said, I am myself interested in making some 'disboard' friends, in the hopes of knowing some nice people on the boat.

So HI!
I'm Amber, DH is Mike. This will be our first cruise experience (single and as a couple), and we are both super excited. We are both in our late 20s, married for 7 years this may. DD is 6 and will be joining us after the cruise (as a surprise) for a week at the parks. My mum will be flying down with her once school lets out. We have already completed our Fish extender, and look forward to all the socializing this will bring. DH has been working on our offerings for months, and everything looks fantastic.

How, then does laundry on the ship work? We're spending 2 days pre/ and 2 days post cruise at WDW and I might have to do a load or two 1/2 way through.....

You use your key card for the washers and dryers.
They do have detergent and dryer sheets available for purchase (laundromat sizes- high prices). I prefer to bring the Purex 3 in 1 laundry sheets. They are so easy to pack and do a great job!

Cool! You're almost local to us! We're in the Cleveland area, but DH and I met in college at Fredonia and he's originally from Rochester. Most of our friends are Buffalonians by birth. We're actually going to a wedding in Buffalo in early June before the cruise. (One of the grooms is a Disney CM! How's that for a small world!) We'll have to be sure to find each other on PCC 3.0. Between the western NY connection and the boys-the-same-age thing, we should have plenty to talk about!

Going to get the passports renewed this Saturday. I also think I'll make my final payment as I've done a good job of saving money for the last year.

Then I just need to decide about any excursions or special reservations.

This trip is coming up super fast.

Passport renewed today.

Can't book Palo until April 20 and not holding my breath since we're LOW on the totem pole.

We're in the same boat, Denise as far as the reservations go.
I really hope we can get Palo sometime during our cruise, but if not, we'll be higher up the totem pole for our "next" cruise, right?

I booked our Palo at midnight Saturday night and all the Palo Brunch reservations were gone when I logged in at 12:01. I just checked and Palo dinner reservations are open for every night and every time from 6-8:30 pm. I hope you get what you want.

BOO! We were hoping for a brunch. Dinner would be good but DH and I don't want to take the chance of missing Animator's Palate on the rotational dining.

Is there a way I can find that out before I book?

We logged in as well at midnight, took a little bit to look around, we got palo when we wanted, and about 15 mins later, we were able to get brunch as well. guess we got lucky!

We have our pick of any evening or time for Palo dinner, but decided it wouldn't be right to let DD15 eat by herself. So we'll accompany her to dinner then let her hang out in Vibes for the rest of the evening while we have a late dinner in Palo.

Not sure if it will help, but you don't have to "dine" with your daughter in the MDR. Depending on her food preferences, she may prefer to eat at Cabanas with you on your Palo nite. My son (when he was a teenager) would have jumped at the chance, but my 2 daughters would have much preferred the MDR. Just trying to offer a little hint - not that we've ever cruised before; but it's something I've picked up along the way...
Hopefully a brunch spot will open for you and solve the problem altogether.
