I hope I'm not too late to ask, but when the Podcast Crew heads off on the Maiden Voyage Cruise for the Dream, could you please please please take the time to study the pool situation. There seems to be quite a bit of controversy over the size of the pools not being big enough for the amount of people who will be on board. I am really curious to hear what your opinion of the situation is.

I don't know anything about cruises, but from the photos I've looked at it does appear that there is not enough pool area for the thousands of guests that will be on a cruise. Then again, maybe the pictures don't do the size justice.

I remember the same thing was said about the pool at Kidani Village, but when we were there he size was perfect.

Lastly, take a look at the lounge chair situation around the pools. Are we going to have to stake out a chair at 5am just to be able to sit? I know there are pre-cruises going on, but they are not a good indication because there is a limited amount of guests on them. Yours will be the first full ship trip.

Thanks in advance.

... even if the Podcasters sleep in Lori and I will be on the cruise as well... we love days at the pool and always get to the adult pool between 6 and 6:30 AM on sea days to get our places... (this leads to wonderful sunburns by 3PM Bingo)

May have to get up a bit eairler on the Dream to fend off the competition :rotfl2:

We will film all of the pools and share as soon as we get back...

You are not alone in your pool concerns... It just seems thay would have made them bigger with all of the extra folks :confused3

At night we will have our noses pressed against the glass at Remeys wishing we too could be inside,,,,:lmao:

I'm hoping Disney didn't make the same error Princess Cruise Lines seemed to make years ago. When Princess built a larger class of ships, they increased the number of staterooms but didn't significantly increase the size of the public areas on the ships we sailed on. In fact, they eliminated one of the theatres in the larger class of ships. As a result, the ship seemed more crowded since it was more difficult to disperse the crowds. Also, since the lounges weren't much larger than their smaller ships, you had to arrive much earlier to get a table. For the more popular shows in the one remaining theatre, people started arriving an hour in advance to get seats.

Given Disney's decades of experience with guest and crowd control in the theme parks and on their ships, I'm assuming they've increased the public areas to accomodate the additional guests on the new ships.

Check to see if the double beds can be split into two single beds, please.

Just wondering if you could inquire about the gluten free food options on board? Do they have desserts for us GF folks and also what options at the quick services places on board? Any information would bemuch appreciated!

Have fun!

We will absolutely check whatever you would like us to. If you could do me a favor and just send the request into the podcast account (podcast@wdwinfo.com) - we're compiling all the requests there and I don't want to forget anything posted here.

It is a shame about the beds not splitting. Apparently too many complaints about the lump in the middle of the double bed. I think what it means for two adults who don't wish to share a bed is someone gets the couch if sailing on the Dream. At least until there are enough comments to get DCL's attention.

Would they think it is an "advantage" to making one adult get the bed and the other get the couch because when the curtain is closed each person gets their own "room"?

Apparently friends who cruise together but don't want to share a bed aren't on DCL's radar.

I'm glad your brought up the request to check out whether or not the pools get crowded. I also wonder if they will do anything to keep guests from leaving towels at the chairs, while they don't return for a few hours.

Ultimately I will be more curious how the pools and decks work out in the more likely crowded times when the weather gets much warmer.

Perhaps DCL is emphasizing that are for "families"; that they are not a singles cruise line?

Families with kids are DCL's target audience. My two Disney cruises have been with one other adult (not my husband), and we had separate beds. When I cruise on the Dream next month with a friend, one of us will be sleeping on the sofa. :( If enough adult cruisers complain, maybe DCL will change at least some of the beds on the Fantasy.
