PodCast 4.0 Chit Chat

Same here. We are planning on doing the Christmas Party on Friday night. It will be our only visit to the world this year. We could have purchased 4 one day tickets for about $380 and done EPCOT. Instead, we will purchase 4 MVMCP tickets for about $260, enter at 4pm, and get 8 hours in the Magic Kingdom.

I agree that I would not pay if we were already paying for the day. We did that a few years ago at Halloween and won't do it again. But this is our best reason to ever buy tickets to a nighttime party.

Someone please explain to me the allure of the Christmas party. From a financial standpoint, it makes no sense to me to pay for the day, then pay above and beyond (and not a small sum as I recall) for what does not seem like much added value...

Perhaps my perspective is off base?

No, your perspective is just fine. Not everybody sees a lot of value in the parties. We used to go to MVMCP every year. We noticed continued cutbacks until we got to the point about 5 years ago now that we decided it just wasn't worth it. But then, that's just our perspective.

There is something to be said for the smaller crowd levels during the parties. You can get a lot of the attractions done with minimal wait then. Also the parade is very nice as are the extra fireworks.

My plan right now is to go to the Christmas party on Dec. 6. Friday nights are usually busier than week nights.

How quickly plans can change! I found out this afternoon that a friend of mine might be in Orlando just for the day on Dec. 6. If so - I would switch my Dec. 6 and 7 plans and go to the Christmas party Friday night.

I'm thinking of doing MVMCP on Dec 6th too. I've never been to the party, so I think I'd like to try it. I'm arriving from Colorado late on Tuesday so I'll have 3 days in the parks before getting on the ship.

Personally, I like the smaller crowds ... ambiance ... but I absolutely LOVE the Babes In Toyland wooden toy soldiers in the MVMCP ... not usually seen anywhere else.

A friend of mine just returned from WDW ... said he was in MK until 3AM (he was there the entire day). While he only used one ticket ... he got a lot of MK time. I am not sure I would use a park hopper ticket prior to a MVMCP, then spend $ for MVMCP. When we know we are going to MVMCP, we typically spend the day in another park, utilizing a one-park ticket.

I am gonna guess Wreck it Ralph will be the biggest disney release before our sailing :)

monsters inc in 3d comes out december 19th so we will miss that one...

Looking forward to seeing Wreck It Ralph on the ship as it doesn't come until February in the UK. I wouldn't mind seeing The Odd Life of Timothy Green if it's still playing, as I will miss it in the UK when it is finally released on December 7th.

Hope called DCL to check on the movies. Avengers, Nemo 3d, WarHorse, Odd Life of Timothy Green, The Help and Muppets. Those are the ones I remember. Don't remember Wreck it Ralph, but they do say all of these are subject to change.

No FL resident rate yet :( I'm not very optimistic - there haven't been any FLR rates at all on the Fantasy yet.....

I'll keep hope alive LOL
