Poconos

I've been thinking about taking my DDs to the Poconos for a weekend away. We'll go to Camelback and do some snow tubing and just spend time together. I need some ideas/suggestions for nice, inexpensive hotels in the area. I would love to stay at Great Wolf Lodge and think the girls would thoroughly enjoy it but it's just a bit out of budget right now. $400 a night?!?! Plus, if I stay at another hotel, I could pay the money to take the girls to the waterpark in Great Wolf Lodge. Can anyone recommend any hotels in the area that are kid friendly and not too expensive? TIA!

Hi! I am right here in the heart of it all...I live in East Stroudsburg. All the places to stay near Camelback are expensive. I would reccommend the Hampton Inn in Stroudsburg just off rout 80...they have great breakfast and an indoor pool. They are also very clean and friendly. It's very well run. As for snowtubing...Camelback is also the most expensive. Try Alpine mt.(my fav) and there is also Fernwood. Fernwoods kind of fun and they have some sort of arena that has shows on the weekends, and there's a 1950's themed diner that my kids like....I think Shawnee even does snowtubing now, but I would call and check. Also, double check on the Great Wolf day admission. I have never been able to take my kids for the day because they would not let you in unless you were a guest of the lodge...perhaps that's changed. Many of us locals lodged complaints....so who knows. I hope i have been some help...I have been here 20 years, but don't often act as a tourist too often! LOL!
