POC- "Glorious"

it is doing well on rottentomatoes so far. The weirdest thing I read was from one of the positive reviews -

"This movie is a lot more entertaining than the Disney ride itself, and will perhaps stand the test of time -- and repeat viewings -- even more."

Most of the reviews have been great so far, hopefully a lot of people are reading them and will go out to see the movie.

I don't think Disney could have asked for better reviews. While I had no real interest in seeing this film (not a big Pirates fan and I'm not about to drag the kids to this movie), reviews like these certainly spark more interest. Looks like Bruckheimer might have actually made a movie that is about more than bigger explosions and overpriced special effects. Very interesting that the reviewers seem to compare this movie to the old time classic pirate movies, and that is what impresses me most, that it is not perceived to be a trendy joke of a film that might have no long term appeal.
I'll leave my comments about the movie itself until later (hint: at least Bruckheimer isn't debasing a real event this time). People who want to like it will like it; everyone else won't. Mildly strong opening weekend, fifty percent plunge the next week (about average for "big time studio" summer movie), buy yours on DVD before Thanksgiving and then forget it ever existed.
AV - now might be a good time for you to share those comments............ Afterall, who else around here is going to educate us all on the fact that critics don't know what the heck they are talking about? If what those dopey critics say is true, this might not be one to forget so quickly - but of course only time will tell.
