With my AP it looks like all thats left for the dates I want is

Port Orleans Riverside for $92 a night or All Stars Music for $65.

I did want All Stars Movies but it looks like its full. Party will be myself, and my wife, and our (nearly) 4 year old son.

What would the advantage of paying the extra $27 (+tax) a night to stay at PO? We're only staying 5 nights so its about $135 extra so not a great amount....

We stayed at POR when my son was 5. He enjoyed the pool, playground, and fishing with cane pole (don't know if they still do that). We found the resort to be quiet and the scenery very inviting. The food court had a good variety. I think it's been recently remodeled. You'll have a fridge in the room for drinks, milk, etc. Taking the boat to Downtown Disney is fun too. Enjoy your trip!!

I have never stayed at any of the AS resorts but I can speak highly of POR. I went with my nephew who was 3 at the time, he had a great time fishing with his dad, he also had a great time singing and dancing with the piano singer inside the River Roost. Not only did he take away some magic from the Parks but he also took some from POR. For the extra $135, I think it is worth it, the boat ride to DD disney can be a lot of fun as well as renting either a surry bike or boat and riding around the river on your own. I just think you have more options when you are at the mod resorts. Either way you choose, you are still in Disney and you can be assured you will hav a lot of fun!!
Good Luck with your planning!

For the little bit extra $$ stay at POR. Well worth it. We love it. 45 days!

I have stayed at both and prefer POR. We were in the AB section and loved it!

I would pay the extra money. We just had a Grand Gathering of 12 people and some of my friends didn't want to pay the extra money so we ended up staying at All Star Music. It was the only non-magical part of my trip:sad1: The rooms were very small, there is only a cafeteria with limited food selection and the main pool is always packed. Also the wait at the end of the day at the bus stop was not fun either. All the All Star resort buses are way at the back with hugh lineups. With POR, I believe you can take the boat from the Magic Kingdom. Bus rides take about 20 - 25 minutes. The only theme park you are close to is Animal Kingdom when you stay at All Star resort, but POR is close to Magic Kingdom and Epcot.
Good luck in your decision.:thumbsup2

Here are the advantages or extras you will get for the $135 to stay at POR:

In the rooms:
Nicer Furniture
More Space
Refridgerator
Coffee Maker
Two sinks
an a/c that will keep the room cold while you are out
two sinks
a ceiling fan

At the resort:
A slide at the pool
5 quiet pools
a marina
a boat to downtown disney
a sit down restaurant - Boatwright's (which I really like)
four bus stops around the resort
a beautiful river
tons of trees
many walkways throughout those trees
an indoor lounge with entertainment

Port Orleans French Quarter withing walking distance (~5-10 mins)
another food court
another indoor lounge with different entertainment
another pool with a slide

Does that convince you yet?

My vote is POR! Ive never stayed @ any of the all stars (just POP) but I love everything about POR when it comes to space and convenience. Just as other posters said--the boat to DTD, the pools, the fact you can use POFQ pools, the food court, the fishing that kids can do (catch and release)...I just really liked it last trip and will be there again in 17 days!

Have stayed at the AS Movies before and, as you say, the buses situation is not good at all...
