Has anyone heard anything about the progress at PO-French Quarter? We are going in April and are trying to decide between getting two rooms at a moderate or one room at either the Grand Floridian or the Beach Club. We have stayed at the Beach Club and loved it, have never stayed at the Grand Floridian, and have stayed at Port Orleans (both FQ and Riverside) several times. The French Quarter is our favorite moderate because of the smaller size and the ambience. We are traveling with two teenage girls and thought that two rooms would be nice. Any help would be appreciated (as well as opinions).

I asked about this today to check on the status. Disney is saying the resort is scheduled to be closed for about 2 years total so they don't have any updated information at this time.

Sorry.

When I asked about this several weeks ago, I was informed that the two year time period is for POFQ and for POR combined. They are doing POFQ first and then when they finish with it they will do POR in phases. I was told that FQ would be opening before a two year time period that the two year period was the completion date of BOTH resorts.

When I called and asked about this yesterday, the CM told me that the overhaul of POFQ will take 2 years to complete. When I asked him if this was POFQ & POR, he told me this was just for POFQ. Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! POFQ is my favorite moderate and was planning on staying there next May. Now I need to find another resort.

After reading the previous reply, I once again called and the CM I talked with (Mark..I think) gave me the same answer that I received before, that the two year renovation was for both resorts POFQ and POR. He said that he was not sure when the FQ would be reopened but that the two year time table was the completion date of both phases. (Phase one being POFQ) There is an article that states similar info to this on Debs web site. Not sure what is correct but this is what Ive been told twice. I too hope to get a ressie for POFQ by Oct 2004. But who knows what is correct.

We just stayed at PO Riverside for Labor Day and were told that the FQ would re-open around Christmas time by several CM's. We also rode by it several times on the riverboat and it didn't look like it was too terribly torn apart. They also said, after FQ is done, RS would start their renovation....WHO KNOWS???

I'm sorry that I can't remember where I read this but, I heard that they were trying to reopen POFQ for 2003 Thanksgiving (Which may have been pushed back to Christmas). I also read that when they were renovating RS, they would do it in sections leaving most of the resort open. Anybody else hear this?

When I called a month ago to make our reservations for May '04, I asked about POFQ. The CM told me that they wouldn't start taking reservations for FQ until later this December.

I just had a customer come back from a week at POR on the boat ride to dtd the CM told them that POFQ might never re-open.

So, I think the moral of the story is no one knows when (or if) it's going to re-open. We'll probably only know when they start taking reservations again.
