I'm trying to find a good pair of lightweight/water resistant shorts for Disney.

I really trying to prevent Chafing. I already have products like Bodyglide and powder etc...to try and prevent it but I also think I'm wearing the wrong shorts. I need a better material that moves with me and doesn't bunch up.

I'm having a really hard time finding good lightweight shorts in plus sizes.

The Columbia website says their stuff can come in size up to 4X but I can't find any website or store that sells plus sizes.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I would be interested in this too, as I am also a plus size lady. I do not like things that cling to me(which just does not look good on a plus size lady), but have the comfort still. :wave2:

Well, here's a link to another thread I made in the more frequented Community Board...I've gotten more responses there!

BeattyFamily - could you let us now how they work out? I have the same problem and would love to find a solution. So far I'm trying out the BodyGlide with coolmax briefs under my shorts. I got the BodyGlide at REI and Coolmax briefs at Junonian. <fingers crossed> Ely

Do you mean the biker short underwear from Junonia or the water-resistant shorts from Lane Bryant or both?? Well, I'll just report on both. I should get the biker underwear any day and I just ordered the water-resistant shorts at Lane Bryant today.

I'm going to add the nice shorts at Junonia.com to my wish list for Xmas as they are just TOO expensive!!

I will, of course, also use the Bodyglide. Anything to prevent chafing!::yes::

I don't know if ou thought of this but I saw it here earlier this summer and tried it and it worked great. The idea was to wear my husbands bathing suit trunks. Disn'tmatter if they got wet, large and comfy and lightweight and cooler.

I bought some Columbia shorts at Kohl's, they weren't plus size, but they may have them there in the Women's section. The style name was Shoshoni Falls Short. I got them on sale for I think $19.99.

The shorts are really light and it didn't say anything on the tag about being water resistant, but I splashed water on myself (by accident) and it beaded on the shorts.

We've always gone in October, but because of school we have to go at the end of August. I wanted to get shorts that were really light and comfy and would dry quickly after water rides.

Good luck in your hunt and have a great trip! (BTW, I'm from MA too!!)

I am plus size and have a bad chaffing problem in Florida with the heat. I use a bodyglide type stuff with bike shorts and very long Tshirts to cover up. I like the bike shorts best because they tend to stay down even better with the glide on.

Pamco 88-that is a good idea. I would NEVER wear bike shorts without a long t shirt to go over them. I will have to look into that.

Walmart had a decent selection of the Just my Size shorts that were a nylon material. Not sure what that selection would be at this time of the year. Also, the prospirit brand at Target is really lightweight and drys quickly. I have had no problems with either of those brands. Stay away from jean shorts and any other type of heavy materials.

Here is what my girlfriend did a few years ago when we got stuck during an all week Monsoon at WDW. Men’s Swim Trunks were the perfect answer to light weight and fast drying. Went to the discount mall she found 2 pairs that looked like regular shorts. Since on rainy days at the parks it is nearly impossible not to sit on a wet ride attraction seat or counter service food seating this worked out great.

I, too, am approaching Pooh-size, and have the same problem.
I have found that nylon soccer-style shorts (runners are way too short for these thighs!) or men's microfiber swim trunks without the innerwear, work great. They're cool and airy, prevent chafing and don't ride up. They also dry very quickly- a must if you love Splash as much as I do. They're the only things I wear on my WDW trips any more. I have about 3 pairs of them from Reebok or Adidias, can't remember which, and I just wash them out in the resort sink, and they're ready to go in the morning. Saves suitcase space, too!

I wear Just my Size shorts to work at the baseball park in the summer time and I love them.

Also I go into the men's section the store and by the running shorts with the little holes in them. They are really cool.

All cotton shorts is good to breath in the summer.

These is the only kinds of shorts that I wear in the summer while working at the baseball park in 100 degree heat.

Hi beattyfamily,

I was just at Sam's Club today, and they had men's microfiber bathing suits in all different sizes. . .including XXXL for about 9 or 11 dollars. My husband picked up a new suit for our upcoming trip.

I know these are men's, but there were so many different prints--Hawaiian, floral, solids, etc.--that they could easily pass for women's, also, if that's what you need.

Many of them had cargo pockets. I'd check them out if you have a Sam's nearby.

Hi
-What is "body glide"
-and Just My Size I believe does have a website-so maybe they'd have the shorts there
-it's been a while since I've been to WDW & I forgot about chafing (ouch!)

My wife works for Junonia and has gotten items for my mom and she just loves the stuff that comes from there. My mom if a very thrifty shopper but pays the higher prices for Junonia stuff because of the quality and comfort. I would check out their web site at www.junonia.com My wife says there might be some summer stuff items on sale on the web site right now.

Body glide looks like a stick of deotorant. It helps from chaffing between your legs, arms and I have read people put it on their feet to stop blisters. I have already tried it on my legs and it really does work. Try a local sporting good store where they sell stuff for runners and you should be able to find it. It is in a red contanier.

GOOD LUCK

Well, I'm back from my first Summer trip to WDW!!

I ended up using Blistershield between my legs before I put on shorts. NO rashes or chafing!!!

I also used it on my feet and NO blisters!!!

I did use Bodyglide on my feet as well some days just for a change.

I did use biker underwear under my shorts some days and it worked well too!

I'm very pleased.

Hi-
Since I'm a novice, which is better, Blistershield or Bodyglide?

Well, I like them both but I think now that I've used both in the heat of August, I'd go with Blistershield.

Blistershield is more liquidy. It is a round roll on. Bodyglide is more like a regular deoderant stick. Not as liquidy.

Blistershield worked GREAT between my legs. Bodyglide I think is better for my feet...not as slippery!
