Since the store Deb's has closed and we live in a small town I am at a loss on finding a homecoming dress for my dd. She needs between a size 16-20 depending on cut and most stores here cater to much smaller. We do live near the St Louis area but I'm not sure where to look. Really dont want to order online since sizes vary so much. Any ideas?

Do you have a Sears/JCPenny/Kohls? They all have a dressy dress section in their plus size area.

I would look at Torrid.com as well. I am plus size and their sizing runs pretty true to their chart. They have some really nice dressier dresses if its a semi-formal type dance.

For some reason I'm guessing we are in the same area. Live in Central MO where our Deb's just closed. My thought would be Macy's or David's bridal, if you are in the area I think you are in.

If you are able to get to St Louis, Torrid has some nice things and the bigger Kohl's will have more up there. There's also tons of resale it shops where you might find something.

JCP and Kohls both sell plus sized formal dresses. We got most of DD's at one or the other (four homecoming dresses, and a couple of others throughout her high school career)

Consider ordering with a corset- style back if you find a good but. David's Bridal has lots of options.

Nordstrom's online store has a good selection of plus size formals, not sure what you think about their prices.

David's Bridal has a huge selection in plus sizes for all occasions. Prices are decent, staff is very helpful and they can do any alterations you may need. They have always been our go to store for formals☺️

Have you looked at Target online yet? They have a bridesmaid collection that isn't sold in stores, but I believe there are plus sizes and the prices are awesome! I wish Target sold formal dresses when I was in hs. And there's no pressure because if the dress doesn't fit you can return it in store.

Do you need to make an appointment for David's Bridal or can you just walk in to look at dresses?

Thanks everyone, I think we will head to David's Bridal this weekend and see what they can do for her!

JC Penney is my go-to for formal wear. I wear between a 16 and 20 as well, depending on how the dress is made. We used David's Bridal for my friend's wedding and it was OK. I'm sure every store is a bit different, but we felt like the salesperson just wanted to put us in the first dress she found and send us on our way.

Lightinthebox.com custom orders from China in about 6 weeks. Thousands of styles in any color, any size, most in the $100-$200 range. I used the for a bridesmaid dress. Unbelievable quality at a fraction of the price. Recommended them to a friend, and her daughters homecoming dress was perfect as well.

eShakti is an online company where for $7 extra they will make the dress to your measurements. I've always had good luck with them. It takes about 2 weeks to get your dress, but everything can be returned if it doesn't fit. Just look in the weddings section. They'll even change the hemline, neckline, etc. on most dresses.

Did you guys find something at David's this weekend, OP?
