Hi! I'm getting ready to sail on my first cruise ever. I am definitely "pooh" size, carry a lot of weight in butt /hips/thighs. I was looking at pics of the Walt Disney Theatre on the website and it looks like there's no way my butt is fitting in them. Do the armrests go up? I'm so stressed now I want to cry. Anyone have experience with those seats or any of the seating on the Magic for that matter?

The arm rests do not go up as far as I know and I'll be honest, the theatre seats can be a tight fit but don't cry...they do have folding chairs in the back of the theatre that I have seen different people using. That being said, I have not heard of anyone missing the shows due to them not fitting in the seats. I have seen many pooh sized people sitting in the theatre. I guess just go and see what happens but don't stress about it.

Depending on where your cabin is, some of the boat drill locations are in the WD theatre so you may be in there for the boat drill.

Unless it was changed during her re-imagine, the seats in the WDT (and Buena Vista theatre) are individual seats (arms don't go up).

I would suggest talking to the CMs at the theatre about the possibility of bringing in a chair to be seated in the accessible areas (at the upper back area of the theatres).

The seats have not been changed. However, something I noticed years ago is that every other row the seats are a little bit wider! So take a look at them and try those out.

Interesting! I'll have to take notice of this when we cruise the magic in a week and a half! Thank you for the tip!

If you can't fit into the seats you can sit in the back on a folding chair. You don't have to bring in a chair -- they're already there.

The doors tend to be unlocked during the day. I would go in after you board and have a seat with no one there. I am not pooh, but I am larger and tall. I actually like sitting on the front row to allow max leg room. Go in and check it out after you board. And yes, they do have folding chairs available.

To add, there is more room on the larger ships in the seats. But, the chairs recline back when someone sites down. I try to find a seat where someone small (kid) is in front of me. You just have to watch out if they put their feet on the seat in front of them and push back. New ships the theater is divided into two sections. I sit on the 1st row of the second section, great seats. You have to be there early though.

The Walt Disney Theater on the Magic & Wonder also is separated into 2 main sections. You can see the rail that runs behind the last row of the front section here:

Personally, I don't like to sit in those seats, on any of the ships, because of the numbers of people constantly using that aisle continuously blocks my view of the stage.

Or, are you talking about the balcony on the newer ships? I can't sit there because the rail that runs on the top of the front of the balcony is right in my eye line of sight to the stage.

I have noticed on the Magic in the Buena Vista theatre that the last row has much less leg room than the other rows. If you have long legs do not sit in the last row to watch a movie!!

I just rode on the Fantasy & the theatre was not pooh friendly at all, I was very disappointed as I've found most things disney are pooh friendly. This was our life boat station so we discovered this soon upon our arrival. Now the movie theatre was pooh friendly with arm rests that lifted up, not sure why they don't have the same seats in both theaters.

I was on the Dream and I found the seats ok. The seats on the end seemed to be better than in the middle of the rows. Im pooh sized and have some junk in my trunk.

Good to know. After trying a movie on the Wonder and realizing I would need to deflate myself (think Baymax!) to be comfortable, I didn't even consider a movie on the Fantasy.
The WD Theater was also our life boat station on the Fantasy last year. The only time I was ever in there because the seats were so bad!

The Buena Vista Theatre on the Dream class ships is quite different from the Buena Vista Theatres on the Magic class ships. More typical movie theater seating, seats tilt back, more cushiony, and arms raise up, if you want.

How was your trip? What did you think of the seats? I hope that you had a great time!
