Okay, I posted questions about which would be better with teens EMH in the am or pm. I have looked and looked and my post seems to have disappeared???? I still don't know what to do. In July is it better to do the am or pm? My concern as posted previously is will we get to ride the rides we want in the pm since there won't be any FP's?

Our experience has been that the PM EMH seems to be more crowded than the AM. However, if you have teens, are you going to be able to drag them out of bed for AM EMH?

Each EMH experience can be different.

I always go to AM EMH (virtually every day of the trip
that we did not do a PM EMH late the night before)...
never ONCE regretted an AM EMH... they are amazingly
empty and easy to ride the open attractions.
If that park THEN starts to fill 2 to 3 hours later...
Were happy with "doing" that park for the day and we
can HOP elsewhere or do lunch and take a rest until
later.

PM EMH's are a mixed bag. I've been when they were
PACKED... but on other nights (sometimes within the
same trip), the crowds were basically so low that it
was like "free rides" on all the open attractions.

Those who have attended PM EMH's and say that "they
are TOO CROWDED" are right... but ONLY for the nights
they may have attended.
I can say, from personal experience, that they CAN be
EMPTY, or FULL or somewhere IN-BETWEEN for attendance,
often within the same week.

We went to PM EMH at AK on a Wed night and PM EMH at MK
on a Sun night (early Spring visit.)
The EMH's were so EMPTY that we could have stayed on many attractions and ridden around and around.
This included Splash, BTM, and Pirates (and many more) at
MK, and Exp. Everest, Kali, and Dinosaur at AK. And
the crowds during the DAY at these parks were very
LARGE... within the first hour of EMH, they simply
"evaporated."

But, it can change so much (either way), that saying
it was "like X" on a given night, can be meaningless
on another night in the same time-period. So, you
simply don't KNOW unless you go. Its similar to saying
that you attended on a given night and it rained, so
guests should never go on that night because it will
probably be rainy.

The rule seems to be, it is far easier for guests to
STAY UP at the end of the day, than it is for them to
GET UP at the start of the day.

But, considering EMH's are FREE to attend... if its
busy, just people-watch or hit the exit (where ELSE
are ya gonna go at 10pm, anyway?)
But if its not busy... you're ALL SET for EXTRA FUN!

In the summer, it's usually FAR better to use early EMH -- it's cooler, a lot of people tend to sleep in, and you don't hit the every-afternoon-showers or evening humidity.

I'd go for morning every time!

You didn't say how old the teens were but our plan this year is to let the teens (14 & 17) experience PM EMH on their own. They are nightowls anyway and as long as they are together with a cell phone I feel fairly comfortable with WDW transportation.

I'm actually excited about this :woohoo: :woohoo: . DH and I can do AM EMH on our own, catch up with the kids around noon, then enjoy some time to ourselves in the evenings.

Why is it that you have to choose? Can't you do both?

To answer a question asked above about why we can't do both am and pm EMH:

I just thought we would have to pick one or the other as we won't have park hoppers to hit one park am and then do the pm at another one. I also just thought if we did a pm we wouldn't want to get up to do an am at our next days' park. Maybe this isn't an issue?

We like to do AM EMHs more than PM, but we have a younger DD. She isn't up to staying up really late yet.

Most days, there is only one or the other - not both. Unless maybe you are there during 4th of July week. It appears Disney's strategy for Easter week this year is to offer extra EMH's - thus doubling up.

IMO, probably your best strategy for ride acees is to do both as much as you can. July is HOT in the middle of the day - both mornings and evenings will be more comfortable.

But it's really impossible for any of us to really say what will work best for you. Are your teens willing to get up at 6am? Are they morning folks or night folks? Are they willing to nap in the aftenoon to make AM/PM emh happen? Do they melt after 9pm? Do the melt in summer heat? Do they tolerate crowds well? What if someone gets sick? Twists an ankle?

I've been enough times to know that sometimes the unexpected happens. It thwarted my plans the last two trips to WDW. The best plan is to be flexible! If you get tired/hot/cranky/miserable, take a break.

I'm not sure about that. When we will be there in late May/early June, there are morning and evening EMH for 7 out of 9 days.

No, what I meant is that early and late EMH are not typically offered during the same day. For instance, looking at a typical schedule for EMH (You can find it here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/earlyentry.htm), you will see that on Tuesday morning there's an EMH at Epcot but none in the evening. And on Wednesday morning there isn't an EMH but there's one DAK in the evening.

So, when I said do both, I meant to do whichever one is being offered every day. There aren't many days when you actually get a choice.

My night owl teen will get up to do EMH; it is much easier to get lots done.

We've only had one evening EMH that we had a great time; it was the Sunday before Thanksgiving and the park was open until 12am so the EMH were 12am-3am and all the rides were walk on. We did everything in MK we wanted at least 1x. The girls rode BTMR about 4x without getting off.

At DHS the same week we were able to get FP for RnRC & TOT for 1 ride but they were gone for both rides before we could get another and waits were over 1hr.

In general we've found the crowds at evening EMH to be worse than during the day; we do go during peak seasons so it might be different on off peak days. Only DHS restarted the FP machines.

It is hard to judge and if you hit an evening EMH on the right night it is a wonderful way to do the park. We still try to go just to judge the crowds and decide then if it's worth it.
