Pleasure Island - what time does it open, dress?

I thought it opened at 10 but Steve Soares site says some clubs open as early at 7. It's probaby more packed though by 10 to midnight?

Also, what type of outfit to pack for PI? I heard it's casual... jean skirt and cute top? Capris? Would I be overdressed in a black skirt or dress? What about DH - can he wear a t-shirt and jean, or should it wear a button up shirt? What kind of shoes? Do they really not care what you wear?

PI opens at 7, but you're right, it doesn't get going until around 10. But I like to get there by around 8, which gives me plenty of time for dinner and shopping before it gets crowded...then you can hit the clubs by 10. BTW, I know a lot of people don't agree with taking kids into PI, but I think from 7-10 it's pretty family friendly, so if anyone's thinking about it, this would be the time to go... the earliest shows at the Comedy Warehouse and Adventurer's Club are pretty tame as well, so no problem taking kids to those IMO.

Anyway, dress is casual, and lots of people just show up in whatever shorts or jeans and t-shirts they've been touring the parks in that day. I like to dress up a bit more than that though, something a little "clubbier". You won't be inappropriate, whatever you decide to wear. I've seen everything from grungy ripped jeans to bridesmaid-type dresses.

From the items you mentioned, I would go for the black skirt for you and the button up shirt for your DH...but again, that's just my personal preference. You'll have a great time and be just as involved in everything whatever you decide.

BTW, try to see the last show at the Comedy Warehouse...it's the most adult-oriented, and generally the funniest. Have fun!!

Just like any going-out place, it gradually gets busy starting at 9 and by 11 its packed. On the weekend, it REALLY gets packed! We try to get there around 8 so that we can enjoy the clubs (Adventurers and Comdey Warehouse) before they get too busy. I'm so over the club scene and since I'm not trying to pick up the crowds bother me as the night wears on.

You can wear just about whatever you want and I've seen it all. The locals come out and usually dress up - typical going out clothes (i.e. your general sexy clubwear). When I go I wear something cute like jeans with heels and a sexier shirt (although last year I wore a polo, jean skirt and flip flops). Your DH won't feel out of place wearing a t-shurt, but my DH likes wearing polo pullovers when we go out. We always make an evening of PI which usually begins at a nice restaurant downtown (some of which he'll be out of place in wearing a tee).

As for shoes, you'll do a minor amount of walking, waiting or dancing, so take that into consideration.

Depending on the night, it usually starts getting busy anytime between 9:00 and 10:30ish.
