We, 6 of us, went to PI last Saturday night and found that most of the outdoor/street area was being renovated. Fine by us, we were ready to party anyway. However, the entire mood at PI was a bit lame, and very unlike anything that I have ever experienced there. The clubs were dead (less than half full) and with the exception of BET, the festive atmosphere just wasn't there anymore. We had friends in from the Netherlands and went on and on about how great PI was, only to be really disappointed. Even the always fun Adventurers' Club seemed to suffer a case of the blahs. We stayed until 1am, hoping for a push at the end of the night that never came. Could it be the fact that PI now looks like a construction site be a reason why the great atmosphere wasn't there, or has PI "jumped the shark"?

Yep, hopefully after the construction is over with, and they put in more resteraunts, it will be better. ;) Right now, a lot of people think its Closed for good, not knowing new things are going to be happening....I hope. ;)

I was concerned about it being dead in September when I'm going and whether or not I should bother heading down to it. I've never been to WDW and i was leary to begin with about a club scene within a huge family park. Its usually good?

It's usually a lot of fun, albeit it's alot like the club scene in most places. The majority of the people are out for a fun night, but there are plenty of stumbling drunks and girls dressed for a night out (sexy/scantily dressed). However, I would check to get if it's still under construction before you head over. If it is...skip it. IMO, it's just not worth the time right now.

Thanks for the info, I'd basically be looking for the standard club scene, hopefully its decent when I go.

Oh, on a side note...

What does 'jumped the shark' refer to? I gather it means the point when something like a tv show or venue goes from good to bad, but why that term? Always wondered! Thanks. :)

Pleasure Island hasn't been the same in YEARS! When I first went there in 2000, it was a ROCKIN place! All the clubs had a bunch of people in them, the streets were filled with guests and people dancing, they shot confetti in the air at midnight to "ring in the new year". It was just amazing! But each time after that it just got consecutively worse. Everytime I go into Mannequins, its completely dead. We walk in and walk right back out. So it doesn't have anything to do with the construction, its just the place itself. It needs this rehab!

As I understand it, it comes from an episode of "Happy Days" where Fonzie jumped over a shark. Some people though that was the moment the show went downhill, or something like that. There is a whole website devoted to the phenomenon - Jump The Shark

Theres no more midnight thing? I was looking forward to that since I saw it on the simpsons... must of been ten years ago.
