Pleased with Discover cashback

Just read my online Discover statement, we received extra $35 cashback bonus from them for their recent promotions! (Get More and Online Shopping)

Yep. I did the summer promo which was gas/museums/theme parks. Worked out well since we went to Disneyland in August. Then we did the restaurant promo. I didn't bother with the current online shopping one since we don't shop online. Can't beat 5% back.

This latest promo of online shopping cashback is great for us since we make several online purchases each month.

We have a college student son in MI who I frequently will order something for online and have it shipped to him directly from the online website. Same goes for my DD living in Mpls.

I always sign up for the bonus programs. I love them, because they never require a minimum amount before the bonus kicks in--as does Visa. (I needed $150 in certain catergories before I got double points for Disney Visa).

I also have Disney Visa and have yet to get any bonus money from them. We pay DD's college rent on that Visa, so that bill can get quite high some months. (We pay rent quarterly). Rental co. doesn't take Discover, unfortunately.

Discover is now having a promotion with select shopping malls. Spend $200 in the mall and charge it to your Discover and you can automatically get a $20 Discover gift card good anywhere they take Discover. You just go to customer service in the mall, show them your receipts and get the card.

Fortunately, one of the malls is very close to us and where I frequently shop so it is great!! I had to get new glasses so that was an easy $200. I have bought other items to total another $200 so we have received two of the $20 cards.

Not sure if there is a limit but I don't think we'll be buying enough to get another, but it has been a nice perk!

speaking of glasses, I just spent $300 on mine. Isn't that awful? Nothring fancy either.

Your bonus funds (rewards) are actually listed on each statement and you need to order the card and fill it up to use it.

Ooops, guess I wasn't clear about the Visa points back.

Yes, we've been receiving our regular l% back each month on our total purchases, but nothing "extra" as far as additional promotions such as double points for spending above certain limits and that is annoying.

If you have a "Mills" mall near by, those are the ones that are having the promotion.

I went and picked mine up the other day and there was one guy ahead of me who was getting about 20 of them - he must have done some major shopping to get that many - but if you buy jewelry or a big ticket item, that would do it!!!

The promotion I was talking about started last July and ended this June. You had to spend a set amount (I was one of the lucky ones, I only had to spend $150) and then you'd get the bonus rewards. I've found with the Visa reward stuff YOU have to check it out on the website. They don't always tell you.
