DS had two friends sleep over last night. One friend had left at 10pm as planned. At 8 am this morning I am drying my hair and one of the boys wanders upstairs. I said good morning, sleep well? are you the only one up. He replies, I can't find T, he's not in his sleeping bag. I reply he's around somewhere and go to look. We are talking about 11 yr olds here. The boy is no where in my house. I mean we checked everywhere - DS' room, furnace room, closets, bathrooms, my locked office.... No T. Search outside no T. I quiz DS about whether T said anything, moved in the night... No. DH asks if his shoes are here. No shoes but Elizabeth Smart wore her shoes out of her house that awful night. (Exactly what I'm thinking) He's lives to far away to have walked home. Also wondering do I call the cops now? What am I going to tell his parents? So I work up my nerve to call his mother. HI T's mom, um she interupts, "T is home". He went home at 3:30 in the morning & apparently told my son he was leaving. Ever tell an 11 yr old anything in the middle of the night? T didn't want to wake us?
OK I have an box of Nice N Easy on the shelf in my closet. I am going to need it after this morning.

You think that Mom would have called you first thing in the morning to make sure you knew!

OK That is scary. I am glad everything is ok and you called the mom before the police. :grouphug:

That would have more than freaked me out. Probably would have shaved a few years off my life. How did he get home?

His parents picked him up at 3:30 in the morning?? :earseek:

They did not have him wake you? leave a note? That is very wierd!!

Wow I can't imagine how you felt!!
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
They are lucky you called them first and not the police.....or that you did not have a heart attack....I would have been close to one......

I could feel the gray hairs popping out in MY head just reading that! I would have been a mess if that happened in my house.

The father came at 3:30. The boy claims he told my son & wasn't sure where we were sleeping. We live in a 3 bedroom rancher - it's not that big!
I don't know. He took the phone into the bathroom so he wouldn't wake the other boys but supposedly told my son he was leaving. I'm just glad he's ok.

So here's a tip for all the parents out there.

leave a sticky note on the coffee pot saying "I took my kid home" when you pick them up in the middle of the night!

I can't believe the parents didn't wake you! Seriously - I would find that hard to get over. I'd have a hard time letting their son play over again and I'd never let my child go there. Really poor judgement.
