Ok please don't laugh...this isn't an April Fool's Day joke. I'm wondering if anyone has ever used a limo to take you from one resort to the other. We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge concierge for the first part of our trip and then moving to the Polynesian concierge for the second part of the trip. After we check out of the Wilderness Lodge, I guess we have a few options of getting over to the Polynesian resort, but none seem very "fun", plus I'm assuming we'll have our carry-ons with us, or at the very least, a couple of backpacks with essentials.

Would it be ludicris to order limo service to drive us from the WL to the Polynesian? We're having a limo pick us up from the airport and take us to the Wilderness Lodge, and at the end of the trip the limo will be picking us up from the Polynesian to take us back to the airport.

I have no idea how much the limo company (Tiffany Towncar) might charge, but I want opinions; Is this a strange idea? Will the limo company laugh if I call to inquire about this?? :teeth:

This trip is for our anniversary and my DH *LOVES* to be surprised. This would definitely surprise him. I already have a small wedding cake being delivered to us after dinner at 'Ohana, from the Grand Floridian bakery that DH doen't know about yet.

Money isn't an issue, so don't factor in cost for this.

So vote please... and if you think I'm nuts for even considering this, be kind in your replies :earboy2:

Edited to add: I just called Tiffany and the woman, at first, couldn't understand what I was asking her about. LOL I guess I'm the first one to call up and inquire about a limo to go from one resort to another
Anyway, she said the limo would cost $65, and a towncar would be $30.

I love limos too but this is truely a waste of money. You know how close those two hotels are - a few minutes is just not worth the money. Remember, you will also have to (should) trip the driver. Take what you would have spent on this and give it to your favorite charity - it will be money better spent.

I would simply take a cab from one resort to the other if you don't want to use Disney transportation. Disney will also transfer your luggage from one resort to the other if you don't want to deal with it.
The Wilderness Lodge and the Poly are just so close that I can't imagine it being worth the money at all.

I didn't vote because this wasn't a choice - but, especially if you're getting concierge service, your resort will shuttle you to the other resort, as well as handle your bags for you! Just ask the Concierge when you check in and they will make the arrangements. :)

Thanks for the comments so far. :)

puffy: I know what you mean about "waste of money" but really, a trip to Disney World, staying in deluxe resorts on the concierge level, and using limo service to get to and from the airport could be considered a "waste of money" too. Every one of us has to decide for ourselves how we handle our income. Fortunately we are able to contribute regularly to our favorite charities and to our religious organization, so spending a few more dollars while on vacation won't really make a difference. That's why I specifically said that money wasn't an issue. I certainly wouldn't forgo anything else, just for a 5 minute limo ride. :)

cjsmith: Concierge will take care of transferring our luggage for us, but I know we'll have our backpacks and smaller carry-ons with us because of DH's medical supplies and medications, which we'll want to transport ourselves.
I agree that anything other than using the "free" Disney transportation could be considered a waste of money. I was thinking of this as something fun, not just as a mode of transportation. :) The cost for a towncar is only $30. I'm not sure what a taxi would charge but I don't think it'd be appreciably lower than that. (Then again I could be wrong because I haven't used a taxi service anywhere, let alone at Disney, in years).

Thanks Rhonda, I didn't know this :) I'll email the pre-planning office to make sure this is something they still do. Thanks! :)

Very cute idea....while I personally would not do it, I think it's so nice that you are trying to think of ways to surprise your DH....one thing to think about....since you are switching resorts, technically you could be "homeless" for a period of time on the day you check out of WL and into the Poly. What time would you get the limo/town car? If you got it after you checked out of WL in the morning, you may arrive at the Poly and your room might not be ready. Just something to think about....we did the opposite of what you are doing last October...switched from Poly concierge to WL concierge and both resorts handled the transfer and storage of our bags and we headed to the parks for the day....I know you have carry on type stuff so your situation might be different....whatever you decide, have fun and congratulations on your anniversary :)

I have to agree. While I think it's very nice of you to want to suprise your husband, it just seems such a waste of money to do this when it's only a 5 minute drive away. I understand though if money isn't a issue and I don't want to be critical of you since you are such a nice DIS member. I myself would take a water ferry to the CR then board the Monorail on the 4th floor and head to the Poly. It's a little different way to go and it's free! To call a limo all the way out to WL so it can go 5 minutes to another resort is kind of wastefull. Use a taxi if you want to get there directly but I would use Disney Transportation because you're paying for it anyway. Good luck and whatever you decide, have fun with it! Have a good trip! :cool1:

I did not vote on the list because my mind immediately jumped to an alternate idea :earsboy: Is there some other unique method since the distance is so short? (just thinking of things I have seen at weddings such as trolley cars, horse drawn carriage,....) Have a wonderful trip and hopefully mentioning more ideas don't make you crazy :earboy2:

How about planning a water ski excursion and get dropped off at the Poly.

The boat and the monorail are a great idea. Even with backpacks, you'll manage the little adventure easily. Even if your room isn't ready at the Poly, the concierge will undoubtedly handle medications and such with the utmost caution and care for you while you go off to the parks.

If your DH likes surprises, and you are having your anniversary dinner (did I read your post right? anniversary trip? or his BDAY? I just remember a cake being mentioned) at Ohana, and they are delivering a cake, find a good florist IN Hawaii who will fedex you a custom, fresh lei for your DH (or for each of you) and have it arrive that day, and held for you until dinner by the concierge staff. The artistry and sheer beauty of a handcrafted lei from Hawaii is hard to beat. Here is one link: http://www.hawaiian-tropical-flowers.com/hawaiianleis.html but there are many others if you google a bit. He might love getting a haku lei, one that goes around the head instead of the neck or something that will compliment the color of the dress shirt he wears that night. It would be so clever of you to help him choose his clothes! A much neater surprise than a soon-to-be-forgotten 2 minute limo ride!

In any case, have fun!

Spend the $65 plus tip. Sounds like a blast. Heck, at Disney, more than $65 would probably fall out of my pockets while I was in a cab.

Bob, can we share a cab at WDW?

:rotfl:

Thanks for the comments and opinions, everyone :) I'm going to look into a variety of options.

Hey Bob, just WHERE is that beaver anyway?? I give up! :teeth:

If the towncar is only $30, I'd go for it. You would drop that for a counter service meal for your family.
