I received an iPod touch as a gift over the weekend. Honestly, my DH and DS are way more excited about it than I am.

If you have one, please tell me what you love about it. What do you mostly use it for? Are there certain applications that you use all the time? I am not a gamer and wouldn't use any of the gaming apps. but would like to know all about the features you find most useful.

I have a nano and I love it, but the screen is too small. I like the iPod touch's screen because it's larger (obviously) which is great, because my nano screen strains my eyes when I watch movies and the like.

I use mine for podcasts, audio books and TV shows. I have the sync feature on my car and will download podcasts and listen when I am riding instead of the radio. I also download audio books. Our library uses Overdrive so I can download books right to my ipod and then sync them through my car radio. Its great!

my wife uses her for facebook all the time, as well as an e-reader. and yo uwill be surprised I bet you find plenty of games and apps you will use daily

I have one that I use mostly for games, ebooks and some reference apps. There a lot of great apps related to cooking, social networking, entertainment, news etc. I got my iPod Touch as a part of bonus for my job. I already had an iPod that thousands of songs. I decided to use the Touch for other things and sort of like an extra computer. I also watch a lot of music videos through the YouTube feature.

What is the GB capacity of yours?

Mostly just use mine for music. I needed a new iPod and I opted for the touch over a classic. I'm not a gamer at all, but just for fun I downloaded a Toy Story game just so I can see what it's like. I also have an app for WDW menus. :earsboy:

The Kindle reading application is great. I always have something to read if I am waiting and killing time. Plus, its backlit for reading in the dark.

I also have plenty of news apps. I can catch up with news quickly. I'm a bit of a news junky.

Let's see...the obvious facebook and email features.

Google Earth is also cool. Cruise the world!:cool1:

I'm a bit addicted to my Ipod touch. You will love it.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Got it as a gift too! I use it for reading...apps....even scrabble ......Music.....Lists......:wizard:

Major reason I don't have an iPhone is the monthly fee. So I have a wicked cheap pay as you go phone and an iPod touch. I basically use mine like a PDA. No music on it currently.

I like that my Google calendar is sycned to the built in calendar app on iTouch.
Gmail contacts sync up to built in Contacts app.
I can get my email. AOL & gmail.
Facebook app.

TripIt app -- no wifi needed. Only need wifi to sync up app before trip. So you can see all your trip details, reservations, the works ...and don't need wifi to see it.

HomeRoutines app. Based on the FlyLady chore list for around the house.

Weather - more than 1 location. Home & Afghanistan currently.
Clock - more than 1 location. Home & Afghanistan currently.

2 specialty apps for a hobby we have.

GasBuddy app!
Dropbox app.
Pandora radio app.

Heck, I don't even have any music on it. And only a few photos. If I lived in a city, I would have way more free wifi spots to use when out, but its handy at home. And we did travel recently & I was able to use it much more because the area had lots more free wifi than we do in our area. I even used free bus apps for the city we were in so I would know the schedule & what buses.

I haven't had mine long. Only have 1 game on it, but the more I use it, and find more apps, the more I like it. I too thought, what do I need this for when I first got one. lol

I do find some apps are just easier to paper. Like the grocery store apps. Easier for me to make a paper list. For me anyway.

I also use mine a lot like PDA. I will definetely check out the apps you mentioned.

I love it because I can not only listen to music on it, but I can go online (if there's a wifi signal) and play games throug the apps. It's like an all in one for me.

I have an iphone, but an ipod touch is definitely great for all of the games! I could play on my phone for hours...

I love my iPod touch! I use it primarily for watching videos. I love watching TV and movies on it when I am not at home (like waiting in line for kids to get out of school). I use it everyday while I am at work for the music. I also like the apps/games I have downloaded to pass the time.

I LOVE my iTouch! Its an 8gb, so all I use it for are the games/apps. I use it to search the web when I'm too lazy to grab the laptop

I love mine. I use it for games and music and I love getting on wifi.

Thanks for all the responses! I had no idea that it could be used like a kindle.

After reading the responses, I think I would use my iPod touch for reading books, FB, watching music videos and movies, news apps, weather apps, and any type of WDW apps. The calendar feature sounds great as well. I think I would also like the Scrabble app. as that is my favorite game.

How do I go about purchasing ebooks for the touch? Is this done through itunes or somewhere else?

Mine is 32 GB. I believe that should be more than enough for the apps. I would use, correct?

Please keep the ideas coming! :thumbsup2

32GB would be more than enough for the apps and what you want to do. I think movies might take up some space. But I'm not sure because I don't haven't downloaded or rented a movie from iTunes yet.

For reading/buying ebooks if you download the Kindle app for example there will be a link on the app that says "get books" and through that link you will access Amazon's Kindle store and you can purchase through it and the ebook will be wirelessly delivered to the iPod. There is also the iBooks app which from you can also purchase ebooks from.
