I know everyone thinks it is wonderful :goodvibes , but can you tell me more about it?

I know it has a sand bottom, a rather nice slide and I think it has a lazy river raft ride portion..... All these things are great, are there other things that make it a cut above?

Also, I've seen folks on these boards say it is a minature water park. If you stay at BC, do you really not feel a need to visit the water parks? If that is the case, you would save on tickets and therefore justify the higher room cost :teeth:

Thanks for your help! :earboy2:

IT is great for a hotel pool but only a quarter of a water park. No wave pool, One slide, maybe a baby one also, short lazy river etc.
But last June the kids voted to stay at the hotel for SAB rather than go to Animal Kingdom.
Maybe it is too good?
Then the pool was closed for a couple of hours because of lightening in the area.

Stormalong Bay is certainly a great hotel pool, but it's definitely not a water park. We loved it and are looking forward to staying at the BC in August. The only drawback for me, was I felt it was a little difficult to keep track of 3 kids in the pool...it's very spread out into distinct sections. While it's not a water park, it's definitely going to spoil the kids. The Wilderness Lodge and Dolphin/Swan pools were "lame" to my kids since we've stayed at the YC.

We were at the BC last week for the beginning of our WDW trip. The kids loved SAB. The slide is neat- part of a ship wreck and a long tube to the pool. There are different sections of the pool. My kids loved the whirlpool section. My kids are both good swimmers. I would have been very nervous if they weren't. The pool is very big and spread out. It's not the same as a water park, but it's very unique.

One thing that hasn't been said yet - it is DEEP in some parts. There is one section of the lazy river that is 8 ft deep (if memory serves) It was nice to actually be able to swim as opposed to some of the other resort pools that are very shallow.

The big slide is a lot of fun, but you have to leave the pool area and cross a walkway to get to it. I wasn't comfortable letting DD go alone as she was out of my sight doing this.

That said, I think this is the best onsite pool available at WDW - but not a waterpark like TL or BB. If I had the choice of BC vs. a moderate and waterpark, I'd probably go with the moderate. The deluxes are great, but only if you have the time to enjoy the extra amenities they offer, IMO. If you're going deluxe, BC has the best pool by far. :goodvibes

Thanks! I knew you guys would help me out. This is just the type information and opionions I needed :goodvibes

The slideshow was great.....I thought I had searched everywhere for pictures of SAB and all I could find was a passing shot here and there. These pictures show every nook and cranny!

Thanks again :cloud9:

We just stayed at YC and AKL. We loved the pool at YC - after a day of walking in the parks it was like a massage walking on the sand. It was great to have deep and shallow areas. It was wonderful.

We then went to the AKL and after the YC pool we didn't like the AKL pool at all - it was very shallow - hard to really swim and it was so boring after the YC. I am worried I will never truly enjoy a pool now that I have tried the best!.My kids felt the same

No one has mentioned the hot tubs/jacuzzis (whatever you want to call them). I think there are three. They are built into the theming so well that I don't think everyone who visits even knows they are all there!

Yes, I tried to be very thorough with my SAB pics! :teeth: That is my original slideshow. I have reworked the pictures into a Flash version that some people seem to like better. You can find that one here: SAB Flash Slideshow Pretty much the same pictures, but there is some music and I find the descriptions are a bit easier to follow.

Our family LOVES SAB and we are looking forward to enjoying it again this August! :cool1:
