Ok, so our tree is 15 yrs old and ugly!! I've wanted a new on for several years. My husband has finally agreed to get a new and improved pre-lit tree. The catch is we are moving next summer and I have no idea what our next house will look like. My DD17 really wants us to get this really pretty 12' tree, I am just afraid we will not have tall ceilings in our next house. I so badly want a tree, the cheap me says wait until next year. What do you think??

I would use the old tree one more time and select a new one next year for the new home. Otherwise you may be looking at only houses that have a place for the 12 foot tree and maybe end up paying more for a house just so you won't waste that tree.

Why not just go real this year?

It would seem like a bad decision to buy a new tree that might not work in your new place next year.

Why not get a real tree this year... As big as you want,

And next year after the move, buy a tree that suits your new home.

We were in the same predicament last year. We had moved to a new rental house, and our tree had been lost in the move, but we knew we'd buy a house the following year. I also didn't know what type of house I'd be buying, so I went and bought a cheap pre-lit tree at Walmart.

It wasn't the prettiest, but it worked fine, and this year I'm going to get a much nicer main tree, and use the walmart one as a second tree in the loft.

I'd wait. Just got back from buying a new fake tree, gave in to my wife.

Covered too many fatal house fires caused by real trees, I would never go that route again.

We are pretty much in the same position and decided we can get one more year out of the old tree and then get a new one next year--but we are going to Disney next year, so we may try to get two more years out of this one and then get a new one at the after christmas sales next year!

Thanks for your opinions!! I would love to get a real tree!:) But, they make me really sick, I am very allergic to them. :sad2: We decided to use the really sad pre-lit tree, it is more just for decoration in a woodsy decorated room, but I just can't bring myself to put the old one together and put the lights on and then take them off. I know I'm being lazy, just not high enough on my priority list I guess. I am going to buy some cute woodsy ornaments to add to few I have and let that be it. No Disney ornaments for me this year.:sad2: I'll just have to enjoy my Disney yard decorations!:thumbsup2 Merry Christmas!!

I think you'll be happy with your decision when you pick out a tree that fits your new home.
