We just had our trip to WDW in April with 4.5 yr old DS(first time) but already thinking about our next trip. The next time we will go is when DS will be in elementary school. If we don't go in June, how will Thanksgiving week be in terms of crowds? We are not newbies to WDW so moving around the parks and knowing where we are heading is not a problem. We were there the last week in April with the northeastern spring breakers and never had a crowd issue. Is Thanksgiving just as busy as Easter or Christmas week? We do like cooler temps.
How long in advance do I need to make reservations for a Thanksgiving trip? (Just getting an idea for future years to come)

Thanks :sunny:

Hi there,

We have done Thanksgiving week and the week after many times. The week after is a ghost town (sort of-not as good as when I was there in January). Thanksgiving week is busy, but I dón't think its as bad as Christmas or Easter. At least from what I have read. Its probably as busy as the summer though but managable most days. This past Thanksgiving the Monday prior was mobbed in MK. We then spent Tues & Wed at Universal Studios. Thanksgiving day was nice in the morning at MK. Me and DS7 rode a lot of rides before 12pm when we met DD13 & DH who had slept in. Friday at AK was manageable as was the weekend.

We LOVE this time of year and although I'm excited I'm going next month, I'm sad I'm not going during Thanksgiving. Make sure you book your meals ahead of time on Thanksgiving day as well as other days. The restaurants turn people away, especially on Thanksgiving day. You also get to see the Osbourn Family Lights too during this week. The Christmas decorations are going up too. Its really nice.

Ditto this. Our first trip was Christmas 2002.. our last trip was Thanksgiving (and week after) 2003. The last trip was by far the best. I'm not sure if that's solely because it was our longest trip (12 days) so we took things a lot easier- but I DO know the crowds were nothing compared to Christmas time. LOL
Thanksgiving day was kinda busy- but we didn't really pay attention to it- we planned Thanksgiving day at Epcot and had PS for things and had a blast. It was way slower after Thanksgiving though.
