My family is thinking of a trip to Niagara Falls. I am very unfamiliar with this neck of the woods..please help to convince me to go or not to go.

We are a family with 2 kids, age 12 and 11. We are not "relaxing" type of vacationers...

No tips, but we are considering a trip w/ our kids next summer. Just subscribing:thumbsup2

I say go. We were just there with two kids the same age as yours and had a lot of fun. We were on the move constantly, but it felt pretty relaxing, overall. Our main purpose was a sports tournament, but we stayed a few extra days to enjoy the area. We did not have passports, FWIW, but still enjoyed 8 hrs over two nights at Niagara Falls (surprisingly inexpensive). We picnicked for lunch, once along Lake Ontario, and once along Lake Erie. We hit Fantasy Island amusement park one evening, which the kids enjoyed. We went to Fort Niagara. We visited the Lake Erie Marina, Riverwalk and Underground Railroad Memorial (never made it to the tour, which I really wanted to do). We were all over the place around Buffalo and Niagara, they're only a short distance from eachother (having a GPS was extremely helpful). There is a Drive In which we never made it to thanks to the rain, and an IMAX, bowling alleys, lots of other things to do, etc. We even took a side trip to Cooperstown on the way home. I would do it again, definitely, even though the ride was long. There's lots of information available, check the Buffalo/Niagara Visitor and Convention Bureau website.
