My mom never really gets anywhere for vacation. We lost my dad two years ago and he used to take her on short trips every once in a while, but she babysits so doesn't really take week long vacations. I really would like to get her away for a couple of days. She also doesn't like long trips in the car. They make her nervous. So it has to be no more than a 4-6 hour drive.

We have been thinking about Nashville and St. Louis. I have been reading another thread about St. Louis and thought I would ask all of the experts here to help me with Nasvhille.

Where are nice, reasonable places to stay.... the best areas? What are some inexpensive or free things to do? I am interested in any info you all have to offer.

Thanks!

We celebrated our 20th Anniversary this year and didn't want to spend much money so we went looking at stars' homes. Other than hotel, food and gas expenses, it was pretty fun and cheap to do. You'll have to get a map (I think some convenience stores have them). Having a GPS is handy too. It was neat to see where some of them live. I can say that Kenny Chesney had a very nice "country" home before the flood came and destroyed it.

I've visited Nashville a couple of times and think it's very nice. Not sure when you're considering traveling, but I'd wait till they get the Opryland resort up & running again (which may be next year).

I have a friend who lives in St Louis so I've also been there a few times. I've always enjoyed it, but I think the tourist appeal might be a bit higher in Nashville.
