Is it a fun park for a 5 year old? What are some of the rides? I'm 45, and haven't been there since I was 9. I loved it back then, but no doubt it's changed a lot. I loved roller coasters as a kid, but not so much now. But that doesn't matter. I'm thinking of DS 5. Next summer we *might* go on a trip to DL alone together. I thought I'd throw Knotts in the mix. Is it worth it?

Plenty for kids to do there, from a dedicated kids area (Camp Snoopy) to the old school train ride.

It’s cheap. The lowest pricing of the year is available right now for annual passes - they’re good though 1/1/26. A silver pass (Knott’s only) is $105. Gold (Knott’s plus the adjacent Soak toy waterpark) is $125. If you get Gold, you can add on the “all parks” option for $70 — not only does it give you parking at Knott’s (currently $30), you get access to all Cedar Fair and Sox Flag parks through 1-1-26.

It’s card only. No cash. The food was really good when we went! My favorite area was the older part and sad eyed Joe, mostly because I remembered all of that from when I was a kid.

I think it's a good place to go with a 5 year old. I haven't been since it's been updated, but Camp Snoopy was perfect for that age. Other classic rides like Calico Mine Train, the railroad, the stagecoach and the pony rides are also good for that age.

At 5, my son actually preferred Knott's over Disneyland!

The Camp Snoopy area has lots of rides for younger children to do in a cute campground/woods theme. Additionally, the Ghost Town area has lots of buildings to look in (animal stable, blacksmith, school house, graveyard, etc), the regular train, Calico Mine ride, Berry Tales ride (think Buzz), stagecoach, etc. are all fun. If you go in the summer, check if they are doing Ghost Town Alive!, where they have actors in Ghost Town who have an immersive story you can get involved in (think being sent on secret missions by the characters, like bringing a bucket of water to the fireman, riding a stick pony all over Ghost Town, etc.).

And definitely visit Sad Eyed Joe - it is a Knott's classic, but you have to be "in the know" as an adult on how to visit him.

The main cons to me over Disneyland - one, the food is much more expensive and lower quality in the park, especially in Camp Snoopy. (Get their famous fried chicken either at the table service restaurant or to go counter in the shopping area outside the park. Visit the bakery, too!) Two, for the rollercoasters in particular, the lines are very mismanaged compared to Disneyland's efficiency. This isn't as big an issue on the children/family rides, though.

Did I read this right? Is Knott's Berry Farm seriously a cashless park? They don't take cash anywhere???? I don't like that. I always prefer to use cash on my Disney trips because I feel I won't lose control of how much I'm spending. I take a certain amount of cash with me on each trip so I'll have a max. budget in mind.

Correct, but they do have cash machines which will convert your cash into a debit card. https://www.knotts.com/cashless

Yes. We went last summer in a big group and found out they do not accept cash. One of the teens with us only had cash.

Highly recommend their bakery. The items we tried were really good!
