We're thinking to do the Fantasmic Dining Package for Christmas eve. Looking at the general menus, I think the buffet would work the best for my family dynamic, but have only seen recent feedback about the character breakfast there. I like what I see from Mama Melrose's, too, but my DS2 doesn't care for pasta at all, so that might not be the best place for our Christmas festivities.

So, have you eaten there recently and what did you think?
Thanks!

I think I like the Hollywood Bar & Vine for the Fantasmic Package! I like the buffet...it was fairly good. I mean it wasnt the best but I would eat there again! If your DS2 does not like pasta you may not want to do Mama Melroses! You can look at the menu on www.allearsnet.com. To be honest...it isnt any extra to do the package, at least last year it wasnt...so if you want to do a fantasmic package and plan on doing dinner then this is a good idea! It was very convenient! I am a fan of the 50's Prime Time Cafe and it isnt on the fantasmic package so that isnt an option. H&V would be my second choice for dinner at MGM!

We went once and did not like it at all, it was around the Christmas holiday, we waited almost and hour past our ADR, seated around dirty tables that no one bused the entire time I was there, the food was awful and the service was terrible.

If it is a buffet you want I would go to CP in a heartbeat.

We did the fantasmic dinner at H&V in March and liked it. My kids think that buffets are the greatest for some reason! A buffet with kids is great because you can get up and walk around and also because you don't have to wait for food to be prepared. This made it a nice quick dinner with a lot of choices to please everyone.

Our dinner at H&V was pretty good. I thought the food was one of the better meals on our trip. Seeing that we were on the dining plan and ate all of our meals at Disney, that is a big compliment.

On the downside, H&V was our longest wait at any of the Disney restaurants. Plus you wait outside, so maybe the heat made it feel longer!!

Now this is just my opinion (and my family's) but H&V is the WORST meal we ever had at WDW! The food was cold & terrible and the service stunk!!! We didn't care for any of the regular options and I thought that the children's buffets was pitiful. My kids ended up eating bread and ice cream for dinner. It was that bad :crazy2: DH agreed and he is by far the least picky eater I know!

We have done the H&V as part of the Fantasmic Dinner Package - no characters but fine for our kids (14 and 10). Buffet is decent - something for everyone. If you're looking for characters though, you might try something else. Also remember it being the best value for the FDP.

Eh. It was just ok for us, nothing great. We've done it twice now (only because MM was booked) but we'll be doing MM from now on.
