Please tell me about Disney Quest...

Hi. My dd 8 is begging to go to DQ on our trip in July. I am concerned her little sister, my dd 6, won't like it much. dd8 likes video games, reading, writing, working on the computer and my dd 6 likes to play dolls, dress-up etc. Will there be things that they both will enjoy?

Also, we are ap holders and belong to the dde. Which is the best way to get discount tickets?

And, How much time should we plan on staying there? I imagine I will need to find a place to sit and read. Video games are NOT my things. My dh will be with us also.

DS an DH love it! We usually go everynight that is why we added the premuim to our AP so I don't know about buying the tickets.

If you 8 yr old loves video games she will have a blast and they will probably find hours of entertainment. You and your younger daughter will find it fun also. They have some great machines where you take your pic and can change things about your facial features, you and her could make your own music cd, and then every hour they offer classes sometimes trivia, animation, drawing etc. They als have some virtual reality ride like games that the whole family can do together.

If you want to just sit and relax or read they have a great lounge and best of all they sell desserts from the Cheesecake Factory!!

I have been to DQ many times and never played one video game. At least not like you refer to. The virtual Video games put you in the middle of the game. Imagine being the player on the screen. Many games are group oriented thus the family can play together. They have a river raft Jungle cruise where you paddle the paddle in the air and it goes according to which way its paddle. It also knows to go faster an slower based on the paddle. The Ranger spin cars are so much fu. One person drives the other shoots balls. The driver runs over a ball and the shooter loads the cannon and aims for another car. It causes them to spin uncontrollably. Frankly I like begin hit

As you see DQ is way more than video games.

I love DQ also! It's a great thing to do on a rainy day, or to wind down after running all day long! The food is great, the shopping is cool and don't forget the cheesecake!!

Also don't forget about the virtual pirate ship. Basically, your entire famile can enter the ship (platform with a steering wheel and side mounted cannons), and you sail the seas trying to sink as many pirate ships as possible. Absolutely love DQ.

Playstation 2 on steroids! It's terrific! Cyberspace mountain was probably my favorite ride out of everything at Disney. You design your own roller coaster and then go to a simulator to "ride" it. They have so many virtual reality type rides, I hesitate to call them games because you get so involved.

The only thing that I didn't like was that it got crowded with loads of kids FAST! Imagine that, crowded with children at Disney! I would still bring the book in case you get bored, some of the lines were pretty long when when we were there. If you decide not to go in with them, the area around Disney Quest has lots of shopping and nice places to sit and watch the crowds go by.

My daughter was 5 the first time she went to DQ. There was enough for her to do even if she wasn't tall enough for some things.

She liked the magic carpet ride, the pirates of the carribean ride, (although the first time the face appeared it startled her, but she didn't cry), the jungle raft ride, and she helped design a coaster that her brother got to ride. She also did something else, something with comic books, but that was hard to do.

She also did the video games as well and also the remote control truck maze thing.

She also played with the drawing software as well.


We are going back this year and she will be almost 8 years old. She can do more things now.

there are some really cool things, they rides are super cool video games but with a lot of physical interaction, perhaps somewhere to go after eating dinner on the free dining plan

One of my favorite things there is the CHEESECAKE!! It is fantastic! Also, the magic carpet ride, POTC ride, Virtual Mountain, and the Buzz ride are all great.

Are all the activities included in the DQ admission or are there some premium games and activities that are only available for an additional cost?

Wow! DQ sounds wonderful! I will definately fit it into our schedule! I had no idea there was so much to do. Thank you so much. Now I can say a big YES to my dd8 and she will be thrilled!

How late is DQ open? We thought of going after the parks have closed ( we are going in Oct. and the parks close early) since everyone is recommending avioding emh? Is it really busy at night?

When we were there in April it didn't close until 11 through the week and midnight on sat and sun. I am not sure if that varies with the season or not.

My son loves going to DQ. I buy his ticket ahead from ticketmania.com
The normal price for adult tickets is 36 at ticketmania it is 24 the normal price for kids is 26 and at ticketmania it is 20. I just received my tickets and it was free shipping. (not sure if this is still in effect). We are also AP holders but the ticketmania discount is much better. Hope this helps.

There is one section where you have to pay to play the games, but you win tickets (ala Chuckie Cheese). You trade the tickets in for prizes. You need a LOT of tickets to get anything really good. One part of this area is especially for smaller kids. You purchase a game ticket for about $5 or $10 and swipe the card to play.

It's best to get there as soon as DQ opens in order to do as much as possible. If you want to play the PoTC game more than once, you need to get there early or wait in line. PoTC is my favorite.

You can also learn how to draw characters using electronic tablets. The CM at the front shows you step by step how to do it. Then you can have your drawing printed out and buy it if you want.

As of Aug 2003 there were no extra charges (oops - yes, except for what the previous poster mentioned). DD(9) and DS(7) had a great time and want to go back.

Add us to the list of people that LOVES DQ! I hate video games...my eyes even "glaze over" when my DS(11) talks about them! But, I LOVE DQ!

There is a small section that costs extra as mentioned, but htere are so many other things to do that are much more fun.

PotC is our favorite too! We normally will not wait in line for anything that has a wait more than 20 min, but this is one thing that we will wait whatever it takes to do...it is THAT much fun. We went twice last summer. The first time, we were agroup of four and were by ourselves in a "ship". The second time, we were a group of 7 and had to split up (max is 5 per ship)...we ended up with two young men from Venezuala, and when they saw us (me & DS(11)), you could tell they were disappointed getting "stuck" with this "fat old lady" and this kid, but little did they know we knew how to play and LOVED it. They ended up have a really good time, and we got the highest rank!

I can't wait to go back again in a few weeks!
