Please tell me about Akershus lunch

DH and I think we will be going to lunch at Akershus with the rest of the family. Originally we were not sure because we have 2 boys (they will be 3 and 5 when we go). But, since my nieces will be going and my boys are familiar with (and really love) several of the "Disney Princess" movies (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Aladdin), we know they would enjoy eating there.

So, please tell me about this lunch. I saw the menu on All Ears, but it does not list the children's selections. The adult menu has a couple of items that look good. Anything in particular you would recommend? Also, does anyone know what lingonberry is? I am allergic to raspberries so I am not sure I should have this, and it is listed in one of the desserts. My dad is diabetic...do they have a sugar-free dessert choice, or would they at least bring him some fruit? Does the price include a photo package like CRT does? We are also going to CRT for dinner, but I know that is not a traditional character meal (meaning Cinderella does not visit each table or anything like that), and there are no other princesses besides Cinderella at dinner at CRT. And last but not least, Akershus is 1 TS credit on the basic DDP, correct? Thanks in advance!

The character interaction was very good -- it was DH and I only and the princesses spent a lot of time with us. However, we did not care for the lunch food. The cold buffet was pretty good, but we did not care for our entrees. I had the Traditional Kjottkaker (which is like meat loaf) and it was very salty and not good at all; DH had the braised lamb and did not like it at all (and he loves lamb). As we did not have kids with us, I could not tell you what is on the kids menu. Sorry I'm not more helpful.

OK, thanks for letting me know!

The entrees I was actually looking at that seemed appealing were the pasta dish (which has pesto...I love pesto) with either chicken or salmon (I would probably get salmon), and the Jarlsberg Cheese Leek soup with a sandwich that has salmon on multigrain bread. DH likes lamb, so I will keep in mind what you said about it.

No problem. We could have had a bad day as far as the lamb. Each and every person can have a different experience at a restaurant (people rave about WCC and we hated it, people rip on Mama Melrose and we love it), so I'd certainly give it a try.

We surprisingly really enjoyed the lunch at Akershus. The cold buffet is very good, lots of salads, cheeses, fruit, etc. The desserts were yummy too. My meal was just ok, I had the traditional Kjottkaker too. But everybody else enjoyed it. DH had braised venison or something and he said it was really good. As for the kid's meals, just normal kids menu. My kids got ravioli and chicken. I really enjoyed the cold buffet and desserts, plenty to fill up on. The princess interaction was great. I was considering doing Akershus lunch again, but decided to try breakfast in May, because it works with our touring better.
