One quick word of warning on the Bohemian Rhapsody...it can be dangerous! Last year I was walking on the TM singing my heart out (yes, I am a wannabe) complete with head and arm movements. All of a sudden I found myself sitting on the toy chest located a foot behind the TM. No injuries, well with the exception of my pride!! Thank goodness no one else was home!

You have been warned! Be careful! LOL!

I don't know a whole lot of quick songs but what I do is find an album that I love entirely and can listen to on shuffle or start to finish.

There are very few artist I enjoy that much. :) Its not all fast but its very motivating for me to keep going since I don't get bored as easily. :)

Melissa -- I know just what you mean -- I could listen to Kenny Chesney's entire album start to finish and it would keep me walking (though I may get all "dreamy" thinking of the cover and start to slow down a bit!) The soundtrack to Mr. Deeds is also fabulous.
It's funny DD16 actually copied MY workout playlist! She thought my choices are great.

So are you telling me I need an IPOD for the marathon? I'm sure if I told my dh that the WISHers said I HAD to have one, it'd be ok ;)

I like to listen to alot of disco, seems to always be a good beat :cool1:

For thsoe with an ipod or mp3 player - which is better? price range? and how easy to download music? I really need to switch from a cd player(too bulkynow).

Any help is greatly appreciated!

My new ipod shuffle will be here Monday. It's the newest iteration of the ipod--roughly the size of a pack of gum. The 1 gb. model will hold around 250 songs, which is all I need for a workout/run. It hangs on a lanyard or you can buy an armband. Mine was around $140.

Yes...a personal music device is official WISH team equipment...cause this is what we all want to look like goin' down the marathon course :dancer:

Zag...your new IPOD sounds a lot like my MP3 player. I have a 1 G Sandisk. I have about 60 songs on it so far taking up less than 300MB. DH got it for me for our anniversary in Oct. I put the armband somewhere 'cause I didn't think I'd ever need to take the MP3 out for a jog! Silly me. :teeth:

Chimera - I used to feel up on technology (love my Palm), but I have not been up on ipods and mp3 players. My cousins' kids showed me their ipods, and I think I've got it, but what about mp3 players. Can I upload my cds to my computer and send them to the sandisk as mp3s?

Boy do I feeel old!

Also, if you don't mind, what did your mp3 player run your dh? (just a guesstimate if you know)

Yeppers...uploading CD's is very easy. The MP3 came with a USB cable that plugs into the computer, so you see the MP3 player as an external disk drive. I use MusicMatch software to move stuff around, but don't think you have to do it that way. And you can download songs from various Internet sites. Make sure you look for a player that can read different formats...I think the most common are MP3 and WMA, but if you look at Sony, they have some special format of their own.

My MP3 lives in the car...I have an AUX jack so I can plug it right into the sound system. Lot easier than carrying around a CD wallet!

I think he paid $179 for it, then had some $20 rebate at the time.

We just came into a little extra money and were considering getting an iPod, but ultimately decided on a regular MP3 player. We were in Sam's Club last weekend and they had a 256MB RCA MP3 player with an armband on clearance for $89.xx. It will hold about 8 hours of music, but we can buy additional memory if we need it (but I don't think we will since we're just using it at the gym). It was extremely easy to transfer songs to it. DH and I both got one, and we absolutely love it! It's so cool to be able to listen to music I like while lifting weights.

Music I like to exercise to:

Almost anything by Depeche Mode
Almost anything by Duran Duran
Almost anything by Erasure
Believe by Lenny Kravitz is a great cooldown song (very inspiring)
Are You Gonnna Go My Way by Lenny Kravitz

kfeuer - Thanks for the tip! I may have to mosey that way!

I was a latchkey kid in the '80s. Amazing how loud the stereo gets when your parents aren't home :rolleyes1

Some more nominees from my misspent youth...

Rebel Yell or Dancin with Myself by Billy Idol
Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard
Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC

Thanks for all the mp3 info! I bought a RCA Lyra, very easy to use - I LOVE IT! now to download more songs ;) I will be checking out a lot of the songs listed. I recieved 100 free downloads at emusic with the purchase but they don't have much that I like so I tried musicmatch.

Any other download sites you like?
