I'm thinking on eating here for dinner. Has anyone been here lately, if so please share your experience? If you have a children please share if they enjoyed their meals?
Thank you

No children, but the two times I've eaten here, I've enjoyed my meals. I do think Tutto Italia is better, but Mama Melrose's is completely satisfying.

Our party of 8 last time really enjoyed our food. Everyone said they liked it, including 3 children. I liked the chicken parmesan and my husband liked his meal, but unfortunately I can't remember what it was. I wasn't crazy about the deserts, but that is probably for the better!;) I also had the calamari and it was really good, the red sauce that you dipped it in is what made it so good. I kept it to dip my bread in afterwards.

We ate there in March for lunch and really enjoyed it. There were 6 of us (4 Adults and 2 kids). The girls had spaghetti which they thought was really good and the adults each had a different entree. I chose the cheese flat bread pizza which was really really good but I tried a bite of my DH's Chicken Parm and I immediately fell in love with it....next time we go back I am definitely getting that. The ambiance and service was also very good....MM is definitely worth trying, oh yeah, we were a walk up and was able to be seated 5 minutes after we checked-in :goodvibes

My family (me, DH, 3 young kids), my parents, and my ILs ate there last year. I was hoping it would be a little better than it was. I think we prob should have gone to Tutto Italia like a pp said. I got eggplant parmesan and it was incredibly greasy and the eggplant was cooked down to almost nothing. I got such a stomach ache from it. A lot of the other members of our party had pizzas, which were average in-house restaurant pizzas (better than take-out chains but not the best I've had), and some had pasta, which was also good but nothing exrtraordinary from what I gathered. I actually liked Tony's Town Square in MK better, surprisingly. They have an awesome eggplant and pasta combo dish that was much better than the one I ate at MM. Tony's food was lighter and fresher to me. I should say we are vegetarian, so I can't comment on the meat, although my parents and ILs had meat in their dishes.

We had a F! Dinner Package. We got there early & waited less than five minutes for a table. Our server was great. The food wasn't outstanding, but it was good. I know DH had chicken parm. I can't remember what I had or what DD had, but it was okay. Apps & dessert weren't outstanding either. We had both Toy Story Pizza Planet pizza & Tony's on Wednesday, so we were probably on Italian overload! I probably should have planned that better.

Thanks everyone for sharing. We are going to Tutto Italia for lunch another day. I guess we will pass on this one for this trip.

We're trying MM for the first time in a couple weeks for lunch. I'm looking forward to trying something new, and I was thinking of ordering either the chicken parm or a pizza.

I do have to add that Tutto Italia is excellent. I'm not looking for an equal experience here at MM obviously, but we did want to try something new at the stuidos.

For the OP, you will enjoy Tutto. It's fantastic.:lovestruc

thank you, we are trying Tutto for the first time. I hope MM will be good for you guys. Have a magical trip.

I have to unfortunately chime in the negative side. Despite a few so-so reviews, I insisted on trying this out just so I could say 'We went there' :-)

While I have had worse Italian food, this was definitely in the bottom half. I am admittedly an Italian food snob, but I can even enjoy the occasional Olive Garden if need be. This definitely ranks below even that. Both dishes we ordered (Penne with Vodka and a chicken dish which escapes me at this moment) were at best a 5 out of 10, but the dessert was a bit better, maybe faring closer to 7-8.

The bottom line is that I do not feel that I ever need to go back here again in my life.

The Italian restaurant in Epcot, while not without flaws, is MUCH better than this... It's not even close.

All this being said, it is just one man's opinion. Some people seem to have better luck here than we did.

Thank you so much for your advice. Its hard to find a good restaurant at HS. We are already going to The Brown Derby for lunch and my son wants Hollywood and vine for breakfast b/c of the characters. We are going to Yatchman's Steakhouse for dinner instead of MM.

You hit it right on the head. HS is a PAIN to plan for :-) Thats the other reason we chose Mamas that one time; We had already hit Brown Derby previously (we enjoyed it, but not for 2 credits on the dining plan), and there really is NO other good option at HS. Ugh ugh ugh...

Let me know what you think of the Yachtsman.. We've never been...

Thanks! I just noticed that you'll be at the YC in Dec. So will we! We're going the first week the 4th-10th. We're splitting our stay between the YC & BCV.

HS is a hard one to plan for. Sci Fi was soooo disappointing this last trip and 50's is just OK. I ended up hating the BD.:headache:

Yachtsman... loved it. DH and I had our date night there one night a few trips back and thought it was wonderful. I still think CG is the best signature, but Yachtsman was quiet, our service was professional and the food was very good. :cloud9:

We were there in June. DH & another person in our group had the steak and said it was excellent. We did enjoy the calamari app. DD had a penne and I had a pasta dish with seafood in it. We enjoyed all of them.

We have tried to eat here twice. Both times were terrible so we wont go again.
Most recent time (August 2009) this was our experience:
-1 hour wait despite our ADR (they kept telling us a few more minutes otherwise we would have just left). They staff just couldn't get it together, very disorganized.
-Service from our wait staff was horrible. Guests seated after us were already eating apps before we got drinks.
-Food was borderline inedible and my group did not have picky eaters. We ordered simple meals like chicken parm and it was just gross. Disgusting dark brown tomato sauce, overcooked chicken, undercooked pasta. :sad2: Asked for grated cheese and the waiter didn't get around to it til we were almost done.

*I have never had worse italian food anywhere. You couldn't pay me to return to MM. I would rather get a burger from counter service at DHS than eat here.

We enjoyed our meal there and would go back. If you are on the DDP, try to do the Fantasmic Dinner package. It includes an appetizer and when we were there, they let me order the calamari for myself even though it says for 2. That was awesome because I love calamari and DW won't go near the stuff. At the risk of being flamed :scared: , I'll add that you can book the Fantasmic package even if you are not planning on attending Fantasmic. I know! I know! Someone is going to chime in and say that that's not fair to someone that wants to book the package and attend Fantasmic! :guilty:

We ate at MM several years ago and vowed never again. Bad food (served ice cold), slow service despite the restaurant being 1/2 empty (with a huge crowd waiting to be seated). During that trip I had the calamari app at Tony's and at MM, and Tony's was fabulous- way way better than Mama's. My DD's pizza was inedible so she left hungry. Just not something we'd care to repeat.

Add this to even worse food at Sci-Fi and you'll see why the Studios is a half-day park for us. Luckily we always get park hoppers!

I had the best caesar salad from WDW at MM. So so delicious, and great service from our server Holly.

Thank you for sharing. One park that does not have good TS but a boat ride to another park (EPCOT) has so many good choices. they you have to tell yourself do you go for food or look at the time for traveling...
