Please Sell Me On The Akl

MY FAMILY AND I ARE PLANNING A TRIP IN APRIL..WE GOT A POSTCARD RATE AT AKL THAT IS NOT THAT MUCH HIGHER THAN SOME MODERATES. I AM JSUT NOT A HUGE FAN OF ZOOS. I AM MORE OF A CBR OR POLY LOVER. SO I GUESS MY QUESTION IS WILL I BE DISAPPOINTED AT AKL? ANY INSIGHT WOULD BE GREAT.

We love the AKL but you may be better off with what you know. I say that because you say you dont like zoo's.

We are at the AKL right now. This is our fifth stay since it opened in April of 2001. The AKL is not a zoo. It is truely an amazing place if you love animals. If you do not like animals then the AKL is not the place for you. If you think you will enjoy sitting on your balcony watching the Bongo, Kudu, Tommies, Cattle, etc. graze and the Spoonbills build nests then the AKL is the place to be. Only you can decide if the AKL is your style or not.

We love the AKL but if you aren't a fan of animals and the beauty that surrounds them then you probably shouldn't stay here. It is also a "tad" remote which we like as it takes us away from the bustle of the parks...but if you like exitement all the time and want to be in the middle of things then this probably isn't the place for you.

It is a gorgeous resort with lots of activities for kids. Rooms are a bit smaller than most deluxes but are very nice and quite adequate. But it does have a much different feel than the Polynesian, Contemporary or Yacht/Beach Club. Depends on what you like.

I found the resort to be beatiful....rich richs and fabrics, beautiful artifacts...it really was like being on an African safari. It was nothing like a zoo, in my opinion. I'm not crazy abut zoos either. It was just a lovely hotel, set in the middle of an African savannah.

I have stayed at the AKL twice in the past year and a half and loved every moment of it. It is just a remarkable place. I think even if you are not the foundest of animals or zoos, that you will still truly appreciate AKL. It is a great place, and I highly recommend it.

We visited there for the first time this past Sunday night. As you can see from my countdown signature we'll be staying there before our cruise next year. Beautiful place. Boma is awesome. Nice bonfire out back with rocking chairs to relax by the fire. Sound of distant drums making your mind think you're in the jungle. CMs outside with night vision goggles to peek at the animals grazing in the savannah. Beautiful pool area and nice eating places.

Will you like it? Can never say for sure but it sure is a beautiful place, but much different from the other resorts you mentioned, (though more like the Poly if anything). The animals only add to the already nice atmosphere.

It is a beautiful resort and sooooooooooo relaxing. I'm not much of an animal lover (don't flame me, I like animals, I'm just not crazy over them like some people are) and wasn't really excited about the resort at first and now it's my favorite! I like it better than Poly or CBR. It is a little further away from everything but we really liked that about it. I have never minded the buses. In fact, bus transportation from AKL is great because you don't share a bus with any other resort.

We also really enjoyed the pool and the pool bar . Try a Victoria Falls Mist. Yummy!

We're doing BC/WL for our summer trip and I'm sad we can't sneak in a few days at AKL!

I say try it. I bet you'll really enjoy it.

AKL is our favorite deluxe resort..it is spectacular, the resort, the restaurants the pool area. Nothing better!
