We had to rush our dear chihuahua Bailey to the Vet Emergency this evening. To our shock she is in critical condition with congestive heart failure. It all happened so quickly and we are just worried sick about her right now. There is still a chance she can recover and we can have a little while longer with this wonderful little dog. She's getting heart medication intravenously, and getting oxygen. The doctor said if they can get the fluid out of her lungs right now, she can recover from the congestive heart failure and stay with us a while longer. She's not suffering and for that we are grateful.

Please help us pray that she stays strong, responds to the medication, and can recover so that she can live out her remaining days with us in peace, comfort and happiness. We love her so much and she's still young. That little girl means with world to our family.

I pray she will be ok this happened to my dog 2 yrs ago and survived she has been on meds ever since but we don't mind giving her meds twice a day as long as she is with us, I know how much our furry babies are loved have faith and I will pray for Bailey.

Aww, I'm so sorry! Here's hoping she will be back in your arms soon! I don't know what I would do if I lost one of my furry kiddos :(

Thanks everyone.

I am sorry to hear that. We have a maltese, Max who is 11 that has congestive heart failure. He is on heart medicine 1x a day but it is doing wonders for him. Poor little guy. He had a ton of fluid in his lungs but within a few days the medicine did its work. I will be praying for you guys. That is such a terrible thing to happen.

:grouphug: I hope Bailey is able to recover quickly and get back home with you guys.

Best wishes for a quick recovery for Bailey

Our little chi-boy, Astro, was about 14 years old when he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Unfortunately for us, he only lived for about 3 weeks after his diagnosis. However, given his age, we felt he had lived a good long life. Hopefully if your Bailey is a younger dog she can live for much longer on medication! :goodvibes

We now have 2 chihuahuas, Willie and Bitsy. they are both about 2 years old now. After Astro passed on we weren't sure if we wanted another dog right away, or even another chihuahua... but our house was so lonely without him! So it was only about a month after his passing that we got Willie... and about a month later we got Bitsy! When we first got Willie we noticed him doing things Astro did sometimes... so it seemed to be a healing for us and felt that Astro was/is still with us sometimes.

Anyways, I am not trying to be depressing!

I hope for a quick recovery for your beloved pup... they really are like members of the family... our little furkids! :)

OP here.

So sad to say that our little baby lost her fight late last night. It was a very painful thing to go through. Feeling so helpless and seeing her that way. She was such a great, sweet, expressive little girl. Communicating with everyone was a trait she had down pat.

DH said last night that she is now with her "Boy" (DS we lost to cancer a couple years ago. They sure did adore one another). In all our years as dog owners and dog lovers, we have never come across such a special little one as her. She was involved, and I mean involved in everything we did. Loved to go run errands, did all yard work with us, ride scooters with us, went to work often with me (clients loved her too). She loved going on vacation to WDW most of all. She would ride on the huge dashboard of the coach, on her way to Fort Wilderness. She loved staying in the motor home. She preferred the 500 loop so as so watch the dog park from the windows...and make frequent trips over there to socialize too.

We sure are going to miss that little girl. Here she is yesterday, while she was still in alright shape. Thanks for your prayers, PMs and well wishes. You are good people my DISboard friends.

Reading your post brought tears to my eyes... I am so, so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry. I am sitting here now with tears in my eyes. I cannot imagine losing our little girl--Fluff. I am thankful she did not suffer long, but that does not make the loss any less. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

O my, I'm so very sorry for your loss. Now she can keep an eye on DS for you ( and he on her) till you all can be a big happy family together again. I was SO hoping for a good update I'll say prayers for you, DH and the rest of your family {{{{hugs}}}}

Hope this helps.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Hope this helps.

O man that just totally made me bawl..... :sad1: I hate the thought of people losing their pets, esp ones that mean so much to them

So sorry to hear of your loss.

As as an owner of a chi, I know how special they are.
