Years ago we used to stay at the DLH when the Monorail was still part of it. I can't remember what part of the hotel it was in, or by. I seem to remember it being right outside of the end the hotel??????? Or did it go through it???? Was it near the lobby??????

Thanks...................it seems so funny, but now the Monorail seems farther away from the hotel now, even though I know it's still in the same location.

Another poster is concerned about the walk to it, and it has my curiosity going.

It is right next to the Rainforest Cafe. Depending on where your room is at DLH it is a 3-8 minute walk. It is in the same place it always was, just seems further from the hotel for some reason. To me, it saves a lot of time because you save the time it takes to walk thru DTD, the line to get into the park (monorail lines seem to always be short) and the time it takes to walk up Main Street to the various "lands". Of course, if you are a first timer, I highly recommend the longer walk to take it all in, but if not, take the monorail shortcut.

I believe in the past there were shops connected with the hotel right near the monorail, so it seemed closer. These were all demolished to make room for DTD. The Monorail Cafe was there as well. :sad1:

Hi Lulubelle,
I was asking what part of the DLH it used to be in. I'm trying to put it into perpective for another poster. It really can't be that far of a walk it seems. We stayed at the DLH last June, but it was down for the Grand Opening of Nemo, so we didn't get to take it. And because of that, I didn't pay much attention on the distance. We just walked everyday through DTD, which was very nice to do. Anyways, this OP is concerned for the walk. I thought if I told her it used to be part of the hotel, that would be good to know. I don't know...............seems the more I type, the more this will be hard to do. :sad2:

Back in the days, the monorail used to cross over what is now Disneyland Drive. It used to be a street that bordered Disneyland and was an exit from the main parking lot. If I'm not mistaken the monorail station was on the second floor of the hotel. When they built Downtown Disney, they closed the street and moved the monorail track to its current location in Downtown Disney.

Other more in the know DISers, please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't believe there was any moving of the monorail track or the location of the station by the Disneyland Hotel. DLH used to cover much more acreage. The main Disneyland pool, several shops (including one pretty large Disney gift shop). restaurants (including Goofy's Kitchen, Granville's, and the Monorail Cafe), several bungalo style rooms, and some parking were all located on the Disneyland side of the Sierra/Dreams Tower; DLH went as far as the street now called Disneyland Drive.. As cutedisneygirly said, the pool, shops, restaurants, and bungalo rooms were all demo'ed for DTD. Goofy's Kitchen and Granville (now Steakhouse 55) moved to the other side of the DLH, and the marina area was replaced by the Neverland pool. Actually, they didn't close the street that disneyganinaz spoke of (Disneyland Drive); it goes under DTD now. I agree with lulubelle, the monorail seems a little further from the rooms at the DLH now, but it's now. It's still quite convenient, especially for rooms in the Marina/Dreams Tower.

CalGal, you are right. My bad. I found this on Yesterland.com

Only today the Monorail Station is no longer in the Disneyland Hotel. It’s in the Downtown Disney shopping, dining, and entertainment complex. And it doesn’t look at all like the original Disneyland Hotel Monorail Station. Guests have wondered why the station was moved to a less convenient location. In reality, the station didn’t move. The hotel “shrunk” when the original sections were demolished, leaving the station a surprising distance from the nearest Disneyland Hotel building. The old lobby and Monorail Lounge are gone; a Rainforest Cafe is now in that location.

I guess I didn't realize just how much demolition was done of the original DLH. :)

Here's another link about the rebuilding of the DLH. http://yesterland.com/dlhotel-the-end.html
