ok - I am getting an expression for Christmas.

I am suppose to make a list of what cartridges I should like to have. ;)

What should I put -- of course I love Disney, that's a given, but what else should I put on the list?

PLEASE help me if you can. I appreciate it all so much!

(And please also tell me which ones I should NOT get....which ones did you get that you don't use at all.)

George - came with the baby bug. Lots of useful shapes. Plantin Schoolbook usually comes with the Expression, but I'm not sure it comes with the same amount of shapes, but I like the font better than the George font.

My favorite font carts are: Alphalicious, Storybook and the Pooh Font
My favorite shapes carts are: Life's a Beach, both Paper Doll carts, and surprisingly My World.

The carts I don't really use much are the older ones, but those are ones you can find for $20 these days, and at that price they aren't too bad. Things like Celebrations, Walk in My Garden, ZooBalloo.

Do you have children? boys, girls or both?

I use mine for my girls PTO and a lot of school projects. I wont bother to list right now the ones I use.

I like wild card, Ashlyn ABCs, both paperdoll carts, the seasonal ones, the new charmed one and the older one (doddlecharms).:goodvibes

I use Mickey font all the time! I also like Storybook, A Child's Year, and Opposites Attract. The paper doll carts are great and there are a few that I use a lot, but others may not (like Dino Tracks). I also like to pair carts together. For instance the Christmas Solutions cart is great with Storybook.

My most used fonts are Opposites attract, Plantin School book, Storybook, and George (comes with the small machine but could probably be found on ebay).

Least used fonts - calligraphy and Jasmine, they are just so thin they are a pain to use.

most used shapes - paper dolls and even though I don't have it yet, Destinations

Least used shapes - Disney Princess. Again small pieces and can be a pain on small projects.

I also love Storybook, Sweat Treats. From The kitchen.Go on the Cricut board and it will show you what is on every cartridge.

I know there are people on the board who have had trouble with their credit cards when shopping at cricutmachine.com but I haven't. They are advertising a sale tomorrow with carts starting at $3.95 ... worth taking a look.
I love the Disney font carts ... Mickey Font, Pooh Font and their is also a font on Hannah Montana (which I never thought I'd buy but did).
Another fan of the Paper Dolls carts ... there are a bunch of extras.

My favorite go-to carts for fonts are Cuttin' Up and Alphalicious.

Since you'll be within your warranty for a while, I won't mention SCAL :lmao:

I really like Simply Charmed. It had alot of good shapes and cuts for all through out the year. Also the layering is pretty simple for this cart, compared to some others. :)

For fonts, my favorite cartridges are Opposites Attract, Mickey Font, and Lyrical Letters.

For shapes, my favorites are Life's a Beach, Wild Card, the Paper Dolls cartridges (I actually don't use them for the paper dolls - I use all the extras). I like Stretch your Imagination (it came with my E), has a little bit of everything on it, though I don't use it quite as much as when I first got my cricut - but do still use it. I also like Animal Kingdom - though that one is more specific in it's use.

another one that hasn't been mentioned is Beyond Birthdays....not sure if it still available though.

My most used carts are Storybook (font and embellishment flourishes), Opposites attract (two kinds of fonts) and Plantain schoolbook. I have and use two Disney carts - Mickey & friends and Mickey Font. I don't use my other shape carts more than occasionally - If I had it to do over again, knowing I have a friend now with every cart known to woman, I wouldn't have bought them, just borrowed on the very rare occasion I need one.

I love Mickey font, Jasmine font & Old West font. For shapes Mickey & friends, Pooh & friends, both princess carts and both paper doll carts.

My favorite carts are Graphically Speaking and Opposites Attract.

This holiday season should have great sales on carts. :) Think about what you want to cut more, fonts or shapes and go from there.

I don't have a vast collection (and am trying not to get tempted) but right now I am in love with "Doodlecharms". Fun shapes and you can make borders.

4 carts came with my Expressions.

  • Straight from the Nest (bird and leaves, a some birthday shapes)
  • Sentimentals (frames, keys, postage stamps, tags)
  • Songbird (cursive-like fonts)
  • Forever Young (female silhouettes, purses, shoes, flowers)
I have used these to begin with, but probably wouldn't have bought them on my own.

I started buying carts to coordinate with what I was scrapbooking or wanting to scrap.

  • Camp Out (We went to a cabin for our summer vacation and hiked inside Carlsbad Caverns. This cart was awesome for decorating that trip)
  • Going Places (Another travel cart filled with vacation shapes)
  • From My Kitchen (I bought this one because I like to cook and want to do more pages about that)
  • Doodletype (this font is just like the old typewriter keys, and I love that)
  • Destinations (We're going to WDW next month and now I can use this cart to scrap the countries in Epcot)
  • Ashlyn's Alphabet (This font reminds of a cross between cursive and print--the way I tend to write by hand)
  • Designer's Calendar (picked this up during an online sale. Going to us it to create calendar pages for my Day-timer instead buying another year)
  • Graphically Speaking (this cart has phrases and shapes)
Once you start buying carts, they will usually have a redeemable certificate inside for points on cricut's website. I accumulated enough points to order Zooballoo cartridge for free, which I intend to use when I scrap our stay at AKL. I paid $11.25 for the shipping and handling.

I agree with many pp who recommend Storybook. It is AWESOME! I use it for the fonts, but it also has many great shapes for journal cards, card making, and scrapbooking. I highly recommend it. It is the one I use most often of all.

PS: It has delightful designs that say "A wish came true" and "happily ever after" which go nicely with all those fabulous Disney carts you can get now.

Just got and love the Create a Critter cartridge (lots of titles and extras) and Simply Charmed (it is like an updated doodlecharms)!
