Hi. My 12 DS and I will be traveling to WDW for free dining in August.

I am trying to find a cheap, safe, offsite hotel close to Disney for our first 2 nights (we won't even check into the hotel the first night until after midnight).

Any recommendations?

TIA

We have stayed down on highway 192 in Kissimmee near Maingate West.

We used the Holiday Inn Nickki Bird and also the Holiday Inn Maingate west.

We got deals from the UK, so I have no idea how costly they are, but they were safe for us with our two children under 9 years old.

The two Holiday Inns are 5 minutes from each other and about 15 minute drive from Disney Maingate.

I would use hotwire and get a higher star hotel for the cheaper price. Good Luck.:goodvibes

I soooooooo want to do that but am such a chicken!! I just can't push the button :rotfl: !

I really want a place with free continental breakfast and that is not a guarentee with hotwire or priceline.

Give me some time....I may get brave and push that button yet!

Having worked for Disney for almost 10 years, my suggestion to you would be to call the Disney Res center and ask for a list of their Good Neighbor Hotels. These hotels have to meet Disney standards in order to be part of the program, so you know you will be in a decent hotel.

If you have a problem getting a list of resorts, send me a PM & I'll send it to you.

I have booked Galleria Palms on their website for 2/nts. with a AAA rate of $70. We have not stayed there but looks nice and found some good reviews. Anybody else here have input who have stayed there?

Hi, don't want to hijack this thread but wanted to know what you thought of the Holiday Inn Maingate West? Thanks

If you use hotwire, you have a very good chance of getting the hyatt Place hotel Universal Orlando/Internatinal Drive.

I used hotwire on two separate occasions and chose the 3-star hotel, customer favorite, ammenities are continental breakfast, fitness center, pool, internet access.

Looks like it is going now for less than $50 per night - according to what date you enter. I believe it is $159 at the hyatt website.

It had a WONDERFUL breakfast and was organized, had plenty of seating and the food was constantly being restocked as it was runninglow. I was amazed at the diff kinds of creamers, teas, coffees (and fresh fruit too) that they had. My kids loved the mickey waffles that could come with whip cream!
We paid $99 with an Orlando Magic card (booked over phone and no, they didn't ever ask to see the card!) We stayed in May1-5 and enjoyed our stay. Depsite the reviews of slow elevators, we were on the 5th floor and didn't experience that. We also had school groups in the hotel too!
I'd highly recommend this hotel for the $.
Chking in and out was a breeze and it's only a 10-15 min drive to the parks! (disney)

Well, I did it....I pushed the button on Hotwire!

I ended up with 3 star at the Ramada Orlando Celebration Hotel and Convention Center in Kissimmee. Got 2 nights for $72.00 total including taxes. I am pleased that it is a 100% non-smoking resort.

Plan on taking a cab to WDW when we check-out so that we can check into to the All Star Sports. The website says it's 1.5 miles from WDW so hopefully the cab ride won't be too expensive.

Dear friend is willing to pick us up at the airport at midnight on our arrival night and take us to the Ramada. :worship:

So, anyone stayed at this hotel before? Not that it really matters because I am locked in :rotfl2: .

Cancellation Policy: Hotel requires 24 hours notice of cancellation to avoid penalty of 1st night's room and tax.

This is what was on our reservation confirmation.

Just so you know for the future:
There is a great website that studies HW/PL outcomes and usually can tell you which hotel HW is offering, based on location and its list of amenities.
www.betterbidding.com
Their predictions have been right on the money for the 4 times we used HW.
HW is great for 1 nt stays! I prefer HW over PL because if you need a certain amenity such as airport shuttle or comp. breakfast, you can make sure it's listed first.

You can read reviews of your hotel on www.tripadvisor.com
Have a great time!:thumbsup2

I booked thru Hotwire so there is no cancellation policy at all. That's the risk you take to get good deal. I'm happy with the rate as the other travel websites are selling that room for $76 per night and I am getting 2 nights for less.

You can read about it on tripadvisor.:goodvibes I am proud you pushed the button!:thumbsup2

I'm looking forward to your post. We really won't be at the hotel much. Our first night we don't even get in until 1:00am and then off to the parks the next day. We'll crash there the 2nd night and then check out early and head over to WDW to check-in for free dining.

I hope you have a fantastic trip and a wonderful stay!

OK you see my dentist knows I'm a Disney freak. Since I always get great deals he calls me "The Disney Snob".

He always stays in this one hotel that he really enjoys. Today I went to get my teeth cleaned and asked him w/hotel he stays in. He tells me the Radisson Hotel in Celebration. I ALMOST BIT HIS FINGER OFF! :offtopic: He says it's a pretty decent hotel for the money. He also said at night they have a huge movie screen that plays movie by the pool. I'm now really :bitelip: excited to go.
I'll post as soon as I get back and finish laundry.

That's too funny!!

Are you back? How was your trip and the off-site accomodations?

Hi, I'm back. Sorry it took so lomg to respond. I had an ear infection and laundry that I can'tseem to finish.

OK over all I will give this hotel a B-.
I recieved an email stating I could check in via email making it much quicker to chech in. I think I saved myself only 5 minutes. You still have to go to the front desk. Their is no special station to check in as my email stated. I was given a postcard by the front desk stating I would recieve a gift package if I would go to customer service. Well, save yourself some time. The free gift are just brochures you can pick up anywhere. They do this so they can offer you time share, unless you want to sit for about 2 hrs and make $70, don't get your free gift!!

Our room was clean except for the carpet. It had a huge stain in the middle. Which reminds me, they have ducks in the back parking lot w/ I think was very unsanitery because they had really bad poop. I kept seeing poopy shoes being dragged back to my dirty hotel room carpet :scared1: .

Overall the hotel service was ok. We asked for extra towels and were bought to room quickly. But not before I had to wait for about 10 mins( I hung up and called again) for someone at guest services to pick up, and then the person on the other line must of been over worked because he was just plain nasty.

The grounds had a very nice layout. It was old but clean. My daughter loved the pool. The main lobby was easy to get to from our room.

They stated I would get a .75 cents refund if I refused the paper w/ I did. I thought I would get it upon check out. I didn't. When I inquired about it they looked at me like I had to heads and was lying. I would not have made a big fuss about but they kept saying this is not true. I then showed them the paper they gave me and then they gave me my refund. I know it was only .75 cents but it was just they way I was treated that irked me.

Would I stay in this hotel again. Only if I got it for $49. Was it worth the $89. I paid for it. No. The place was nice but it was not Disney Property.
I did not get the Magical Feeling.

I hoped this helped. My daughte wanted me to tell you again she loved the pool. I also want to say the atmosphere around the pool inviting.

Have fun and let me know how you enjoyed it.
