Hello to All,

I'm looking for a nice Upscale Romantic Restaurant for our Anniversary Dinner offsite. I perfer somewhere close to the Disney/Orlando area. I have considered Christini's and The Melting Pot, the only 2 i've found. If you have been to Christini's please share reviews. Not looking too deep into The Melting Pot as I don't think it's romantic to cook your own food, lol! Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi...Melting Pot is OK..nothing spectacular....but it is dark and could be "romantic" if you don't mind cooking...it is expensive for what you get...

What about private dining at a place like Kobe Japanese...tell them you want a very private dinner...

All around Disney caters to families so "romantic" is kind of hard to come by...

I still hear that California Grill can be really nice,

not sure how "romantic" Charley's Steakhouse right by Arabian Knights would be...
Not been to Christini's, sorry...

all the best...Ted

Good Luck

Years ago, an old boyfriend took me to Ruth Chris's steak house and we had dinner in a private room. It was very romantic, and the food was fabulous. It is closer to downtown Orlando though. Let us know where you end up, we could always use a good place to eat!

There is a restaurant inside of the Gaylord Palms call Old Hickory Steakhouse and it is fabulous!! Manuals on the 28th in downtown Orlando is a local romantic favorite!! Please pm me with any questions or if there is anything I can do to assist!! Seasons 52 in the Dr. Phillips is also wonderful!

There's now a Ruth's Chris on restaurant row (west Sand Lake Road - same strip as the Melting Pot). It's very unassuming from the outside, but upscale and romantic inside. We love it.

Old Hickory Steakhouse at Gaylord Palms is another favourite and closer to Disney (literally at the bottom right-hand corner of WDW property).

Norman's at the Ritz-Carlton really has the 'wow' factor, but it's not cheap. Primo at the JW Marriott next door is worth considering. We've also enjoyed Todd English's bluezoo at the WDW Dolphin.

There's a whole host at Universal Studios - Emeril's (CityWalk), Emeril's Tchoup Chop (at the Royal Pacific Resort), The Palm (at the Hard Rock Hotel) all spring to mind.

We loved Salt Island Chop House and Fish Market on International Drive in May and will probably visit again during our upcoming trip.

I could go on! I love eating out.

How about the Plantation Room at the Celebration Hotel? If it's on a weekend you can take a carriage ride around town. Or walk around the lake.

I've heard they do carriage rides at the Ritz too.

I know you were looking at off property locations, however we have tried a few on property restaurants that are great for a romantic dinner. Arthur's 27 at the Buena Vista Palace has the best view around from it's location on the 27th floor (next to Downtown Disney). California Grill on the top floor of the Contemporary had great food the last time we were there, and is quite romantic as the sun sets and the lights from the Magic Kingdom begin to twinkle. There are several good restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin hotels, like Palio for Italian, Kimonnos for Asian, Shula's for delicios steaks and chops. All will offer a certain degree of elegance and romance factor.
Off Disney we have tried Dux at the Peabody hotel on I-Drive. Romantic and the food was delicious.

Unfortunately it closed in 2005. :sad1:

Thanks so much for all of your advice. That Arthurs 27th place sure sounded nice, too bad they closed. :flower:

I wasn't aware that they had closed. :sad1: My husband and I had several romantic dinners there over the years. It was starting to look pretty tired the last time we were there, though.

Arthurs 27 is located on the top floor of the Wyndam, not Buena Vista Palace, it is still open and would be a great place to eat.

OK, let's get a little clarification going here. The correct name of the hotel was the Wyndham Buena Vista Palace. They stopped their affiliation with Wyndham some months back, and it's now simply known as the Buena Vista Palace. Arthurs 27 was on the top floor of this hotel, it closed within the past month.

And BTW--My choice would be Dux at the Peabody--incredible food and service in a romantic atmosphere.

I would recomend The Smoke House Grill at Westgate Lakes Resorts and Spa. It is a short drive on Turkey Lake Rd, from Downtown Disney. The atmosphere may be just the one that you are looking for. Just make reservation in advance. The restaurant is one of the best in Orlando.

Yes, the Plantation Room is quite good, as is the service. Carriage rides in Celebration ended on 12/31. They no longer operate on weekends.

Christini's is excellent, as is Ruth's Chris - mention the special occasion up front and they'll comp a desert.

Yes, Arthur's 27 is most definitely closed.
