We are planning our first curise (4 day) for the week before Christmas (still off-season rates). My 16 year old daughter is sure there will be only little kids on board and no "hot guys" for her to "hang" with. I say there will be plenty of teens her age. Who is closer to the truth?

Thanks

I will sailing with DCL for the first time December 27, 2003. I have a DD 12 1/2 and DS 15. I was worried that they would feel that the cruise is too young for them. But from what I have read on these boards, it sounds like there are plenty of teens on the DCL cruises. So I wouldn't worry. I am done worrying about it. They will either want to have a good time or they won't. It's up to them, but I know I will have fun. How can anyone go on a cruise and not have fun? Never heard of such a thing!

My daughter was 14 when we went on the 3 night cruise. She rolled her eyes when I said we were going on a Disney Cruise. Well, boy was she wrong. We never saw her. Had to call up to Common Grounds at 11:30 one night to get her back. And she stayed out later the rest of the nights. We saw her at Cookies on Castaway Cay when the teen counselors brought them to eat, she saw me and gave me that "get out of here now" stare. She can not wait until our 7 night in November. The problem whe have there is that Wendy is "grandma and grandpa's girl", she spends summer months with them in Florida and so forth and I think they are in for a rude awakening. She is in their cabin, technically, but I bet they never see her too. I really don't want to know if she found "hot" boys but she made many friends. They hung out many places, not just Common Grounds. She posted a couple of weeks back to someone about her experience. If you want, you can have your daughter email her thru me and she can tell them about it. She is 15 now. vgaskin@aol.com

She is definitely wrong
You are definitely right
(per my teenage son!)

Direct her to the teen boards. She might be able to find others who will be on the same cruise & probably will get a lot of good info about the CG & the what the teens do & like the best

my ds now 17 but 15, 16 &17 on three different cruises has alway had a good time-stayed out very late hanging out with coed groups and come home with IM info and even had to go visit one sweetie several months after our return and also stays in touch with several. He said it is very important to go the 411 gathering the first night on the cruise.

You are definetely right. I am a teen and I was 14 when I went on my last cruise. I had a ball. I'm reallyt

sorry. i am very shy and i didn't spend a lot of time in Common Grounds but i met people myt

my age and had a ball. so she will be fine and will have alot of fun. sorry again about

Our oldest daughter was 17 on our March cruise. We planned another one for March 2004. She spent alot of time in her room during our last cruise and has decided that she doesn't want to go again for the March 2004 cruise. :( She is very mature for her age and just couldn't handle some of the not so hot guys attitudes in the teen club so stayed away.

She will be 18 for the next cruise and we have gave her permission to go on a different cruise with other friends and family. The other cruise also offers more activites for people her age.

Our son who was 15 on our last cruise said it was okay and he would go again. He will be 16 for the next one. BUT our 13 year old daughter LOVED it and can't wait for the next cruise.

Our 11 year old hardly ever used the clubs and spent time with us instead but loves the cruise.

All kids are different. We have learned that having four that are completely different.:)

I've been on 2 cruise and a third/fourth is on the way. i was 16 and 17 for the first 2. i had a blast at common grounds. there are no lil kids there. As for hot guys i had a friend last cruise hook up with a guy so she would say there were 'hot guys'. the counselors are awesome. they are all mid 20's or younger and easy to talk to. the teen activities were cool. there is a dance almost every night. i don't usually like dancing but these dances were fun. Karaoke was funny too. Alls i can say is i love disney cruises. i'm the one who pushes to go on another one every year!

MY KIDS WERE 11 AND 16 WHEN WE WENT ON OUR 1ST CRUISE. MY SON IS NOW A SENIOR AND WILL GRADUATE IN JUNE AND THIS IS WHAT HE WANTS FOR A GRADUATION PRESENT!!! I ASKED HIM SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I BOOKED ANOTHER ONE WITH DISNEY IF HE WAS SURE HE WANTED TO DISNEY, AS HE WILL BE CLOSE TO TURNING 19 WHEN WE GO AND HE SAID "NOW WAY WAS HE DOING ANY OTHER CRUISE, DISNEY WAS THE BEST" I'M SURE YOURS WILL LOVE IT TOO.
