For some reason in the last couple of days there have been a lot of posts that have been removed because they violated posting rules for the DIS. As a result, I thought it might be good to remind you all of some of the more basic rules that I need you all to follow.

1) Personal attacks are absolutely not allowed. This means that you are free to disagree with anything a poster says, but you are not allowed to call him/her an "idiot," "ignorant," or "moronic." Kindly keep in mind that this works in all directions... I will remove any post that attacks a poster regardless of why that attack is made.

2) Profanity is not allowed. I know that most of the posters on this particular board are adults, but we do allow children to view any post they want. This includes using symbols, initials, etc to bypass the automatic censors. Kindly do not use any form of profanity.

When you register, you get a message that says:

By clicking the Agree button, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

Please try to keep this in mind.

By whose definitions do these words fall into? I have read numerous threads, which are still out there, which could be described as "hateful" or "threatening".

Just curious. One man's hate is another man's discussion.

I'm not sure, but I'd bet it would be those that the reasonable man would deem as such. The reasonable man is a randomly selected jury which - in theory - represents society.
