hi! as a single parent i do everything with my son alone. when it came to doing disney i didnt think anything about it. just another trip. BUT i have been a single parent since my son was born so i am used to it.
there is another thread about going without their spouse. they are asking for advice kind of and it got a little off topic. anyway i thought it might be a good idea to compile a list of tips for those of us that are the only parent on the trip!!

If you are used to raising your son alone, it won't be any different taking him on a wonderful vacation to Disney World! I would recommend planning (or studying..) as much as possible ahead of time, and remembering to take it easy and relax once you are there! Just because you plan hard for your vacation doesn't mean that you have to take the "commando" route!

And lastly, I would just remember to be cautious, but I bet you are used to "being safe" since you are from New York! ;)

Have a blast! I think you will do fine!!!

...only 9 days to go....and I 'wanna find my Disney pass!!!! :(

I travel alone with my son quite a bit, my best tip is to hire a town car to pick you up in MCO. They take care of your luggage while you keep all eyes and hands on your overly excited child. Costs a little more but worth every penny.

Second tip when we arrive in the park I hand the park map to my son and he decides where we go when. I decide when we stop for lunch and help him watch the clock for parades etc.

My husband is a full time Dairy Farmer. Its a 24/7 job, 365 days a year. He gets no vacation, but doesn't hold us back rom taking any. My DS(10) and I have been to Disney together 4 times, our 5th coming up. It is no problem. He is old enough to go into the restroom by himself, and responsible enough to stand where I tell him to when he is finished.

Don't fret, go and have a great time with your child! :)

Hi used Tiffany Town Car Serv last Oct. They have been recommended in many books and in many post. WWW.tiffanytowncar.com. Here are the phone numbers listed in unofficial WDW book: 800-838-2161, 407-370-2196. Cost is $85 roundtrip which includes 1/2 hour stop at a supermarket.

Hope this helps, have fun.
