Last summer I thought I had developed irritable bowel syndrome. I was going to the bathroom alot more. And it kept getting worse. It was up to 20 times a day. I went to the doctor after 3 or 4 months He initially thought I was lactose intolerant, but my symptoms didn't go away. He sent me to a gastroenterologist and I had a colonoscopy, RECTAL CANCER. I wasn't in pain, just a little bleeding which I thought was from a hemmeroid. I have had 5 1/2 weeks of chemo and radiation, surgery to remove most of my rectum and have a new one reconstructed, an ileostomy that will be reversed after my 12 bi weekly back up chemo is completed.

I'm lucky, I have a wonderful set of doctors. My surgeon is straight forward. He said this would take a year out of my life for all the treatment and everything. He is the head of colorectal surgery at the hospital. He is also very easy on the eyes ;) . The surgery got rid of all the cancer and my doctors are very confident of a complete recovery.

If I had continued to self diagnois and not gone to the doctor it would have been much worse.

Pay attention to your body.

By the way, I'm heading to WDW Dec 2-11, and guess what, my oncologist will be there too.
