I just changed my ressies for Feb. from CBR to POR. WE were checking out pictures this morning and it looks so pretty, and thought we might like to try something new. I requested the mansions. I had to get a waterview, as this is all they had left, but it was only $120 more than my standard view at CBR. Did I do the right thing? My DS was really looking forward to going back to CBR. He's disappointed. What can you tell me to make him feel better? :upsidedow :bitelip: :worried:

Dawn, we are in the same situation as you are. After staying at the CBR for our last 6 trips, we are staying at POR for the first time. At the time we booked, the AP discount of $88 was only available there. We will all miss the CBR, but after reading all of the posts on here, we really are looking forward to POR. The boatride, carriage ride, mansions, and the entertainer in the lounge sound really good to us. We will be there from Dec 8- 17. When are you going? I will definitely post on here when I return . Hopefully, I can give a report that will put your hubby's fears to rest!!!

We've never stayed POR, so I can't really say anything real to make you feel better BUT I do have an idea: split your stay 1/2 at POR and 1/2 at CBR. That way you can try something new and do your old favorite.

We'll be there the nights of 12/2 - 12/6 and then again from 12/11 - 12/13. It's our favorite resort! The grounds are beautiful, and I like the quiet feeling after a busy day. I prefer Alligator Bayou (and I know that I'll be there for at least the first stay because there are five of us in the room), but I've stayed in the mansions too, and it was very nice.

The pool is great, the playground is really nice if your DS is still young enough to enjoy that (mine's 28, but he says he's going to try it anyway ;) .

The boat to Downtown Disney is a big plus, too. It's a nice ride, and you pass the old Treehouse Villas (if they're still standing!).

I also love POR, though I haven't been there since '98 (we're DVC Members now...that's the only reason). Even when we're staying at BWV or OKW, we manage to sneak in a trip over there. Excellent brownies in the Food Court. In fact, it's one of our fav food courts of all the resorts. We stayed in AB section and just loved it there. The grounds are beautiful. You son will enjoy the slide that plops you into the main pool also. Have a great stay.

All I can say is that when I was staying at CBR last year I was wishing I was back at POR. SO much so that we went to POR one afternoon just to have lunch and stroll around. There is a resort to satisfy everyone's taste. Ours is PO. The convenience of taking the boat to DD is a real plus. I find POR to be so peaceful. I just love strolling around.

I am sure you are going to enjoy your stay at POR! We have only ever stayed at CBR and will be returning there in December. But from what I have read; it sounds like there are a lot of fun things to see and do at POR. We had considered staying there for our December trip. DM convinced us to stay at CBR again. She was happy with it in July. She knows what to expect and how to get around.

I am certain once you get there DS will be too busy having a good time to worry about where he is staying!

We have stayed at both resorts a number of times. We personal like CBR the best. Its more out of the way, and the food court is better in our opinion. I will say this, you can't go wrong at either resort. You will have a wonderful time, so relax and enjoy.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. POR looks absolutely beautiful. I requested the mansions and really hope I get it. The bayou rooms really don't appeal to me that much. I know I forgot to mention my DSs age. He's 15 and doesn't really like change at all. As I was reading him all of your posts, he said, "I know I'll be OK when I get there." I just know that even in WDW if he looks disappointed, it makes my heart sink. I got "stuck" with a waterview ($$) so I hope it's worth it. I've read some "not too positive" posts about paying for a waterview.

We wanted to book AllStars for this trip since it's last minute and we're trying to keep the cost down. WE've stayed at POR twice now and love it. So, when DU told me that only POR was open for our trip (AllStars all booked) my dd, 10, was thrilled. THen DU told me that when she went to book POR, AllStarMusic had an opening. Told her to book that instead. My dd is devastated!!!! You would think I told her the whole darn trip is off. Guess we'll be making the trip over to POR just to say hi. You're going to love it there. It's a great resort!!!
