to continue to do breast self-exams in spite of what the most recent news report has stated!
It was my own self-exam that discovered my breast cancer back in December of 1997. While BSE is not a substitute for having routine mammograms, I believe we need to continue to do both. Sometimes a mammogram will show no signs of cancer. So, from the time you have that particular mammogram until the time of your next scheduled one, the only chance you have of possibly discovering a lump or an irregularity is by doing breast self-exams on a routine basis.
As an "almost 5-year breast cancer survivor," I cannot emphasize strongly enough to all of you to please take charge of your own personal health and schedule your mammograms and continue to do BSE's regardless of what you hear in the news.
Stay well and God bless.
