What is the average that it has gone for is 86 a point a really good deal or are they always running discounts or do i need to jumpo on this cause im going to eventually do it
ty

Well, since I don't have a crystal ball...I can only say there is typically some type of promo that's running at any given time, and some are better than others. This is one of the better ones we've seen the last few months. Will there be something better in the future? Only time will tell. I personally feel anyone on the fence about buying SSR points should do it in the near future as I feel certain the price will be going up for AKV (and it will probably do so without the approx. 15% discount being offered w/the Friends & Family promo).

this is the best promotion since the friends and family last year and I would guess it won't be this low again, but you never know. It is probably the push to sell SSR out and then it will increase.

In my opinion this is a really good deal if you want SSR. Typically they offer $10 off. Since this is 15% off it appears to be a better deal. This is only the second time that I have seen a 15% off promotion.

I would take this the only way I see them going any lower is if AKV get done faster then expected.

My thoughts:

1) There will be good deals in the future.
2) Prices, even with good deals will be higher in the future.

If you think you will buy eventually, the question is why are you waiting? If you are waiting because you don't have all your finances in gear and are waiting to pay off your new kitchen before anyother big purchase (or something), then you should wait. If you are waiting because you aren't 100% convinced SSR is for you and want to see the details on AKLV or other future resorts, then you might as well wait.

But if you are just waiting because you've got some other things going on right now and don't want to deal at the moment, then get your act in gear and go buy!

AH...... a good slapping just priceless. :rotfl: :confused3

Seriously, unless you are going resale (check out Tom's co. TSS) my feeling is that $86/pp is a good deal and one we won't see again. Prices keep increasing yearly so even if they run another 15% off in the future it would still be higher than $86.

Now, do you want SSR or AKV ? That is the real question. Question #2 is would it be worth $10 -$15 more per point to have the booking advantage at AKV?

Good luck with this.

Unless you want the longer years at ssr or wait for the new resort at AK I would buy resalr at OKW. OKW is selling for about

If you want to get into the DVC system , buy resale. OKW cheap and you could still book at all the other resorts at a 7 mouth window. A savings of about $10.00 per point or more isn't bad. OKW has larger room sizes, if you have a large family or need to rent to a large family.

they usually have it discounted from 8-10 dollars. but sometimes usually by fiscal year time the price seems to drop a lot. last year the price dropped to 83.30 this year to 86. last year it happened about two weeks after the fiscal year this time it happened about two weeks before the fiscal year.

Okay, so where did I miss the slapping? I guess I didn't see anything that looked like a slapping.

As for the costs...Yes, DVC does usually have some sort of discount going on at any given time, but the reality is that the prices are ALWAYS going up,so there is usually no time like the present for the "best price". When we purchased, we got two contracts about 12 months apart. Even in that short time the price went from $62/point to $65/point. A small increase to be sure, but just an example of how time marching on usually means prices marching up in the direct from DVC world.

I should have bought last year, but I backed out during the 10 day grace period. I think the SSR deal in Sept 2005 was about $83 a point with a Dec UY with Disney giving an extra year's worth of points up front and covering all the closing costs. It was a good deal in retrospect.
I just bought with the current promo. $86 per point, $200 in closing costs, and no extra year's worth of points thrown in. Although I regret backing out last year, I am sure that I will be glad with this year's deal in comparison to future prices.
