Ok my brother and his fiancee are getting married next October and have asked me to help find a place for their honeymoon..they want to pay it all off when they get their taxes soooo I have a few questions. Any recommendations, they mentioned St. Lucia or Jamacia. Ever been? Good hotel... Im thinking they are going to want all inclusive. Also if you have any other places you've gone I will take any recommnedations from other places as well.

Are there any good web sites to look at for info or vacations package deals. Let me in on any tips you might have.

Thank you soooo much in advance!

Been to Jamaica and St. Lucia. DH and I love both. Some will give a story how unsafe Jamaica is. DH and I visit every year , except the year we went to St. Lucia and never had a problem. Be smart and don't assume because you are in a tropical paradise that bad things can't happen.
Don't do things in Jamaica and St. Lucia that you wouldn't do at home.

DH and I have been to several Sandal resorts in Jamaica: Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Dunns River (now closed, under new name), Negril and Whitehouse. Negril and Whitehouse are our absolute favorites. Also the most expensive, but well worth it, IMOP. We also visited Secrets Wild Orchid this past July. Its in Montego Bay. Nice but we still prefer Sandals.

In St. Lucia we stayed at the Sandals Regency. Very beautiful. We had a room up on the bluff overlooking the ocean and it was breathtaking.

If u have any questions, feel free to PM me.

We honeymooned at Sandals St. Lucia. We were a little worried about the cheese factor, but it was really lovely, the food was good, and we had a great time (besides being among a large group of honeymooners). It wasn't cheap, but it was all inclusive. We splurged on a helicopter ride from the airport to an airport right by the resort (and back), and it was well worth it - a practical excursion. It looks exactly like the pictures on the website (or in our case, the brochure!). Went to Beaches in Turks and Caicos when we had a couple kids, and almost just as nice.

I don't have any suggestions (well I do) other then to tell them to go some place that they don't think they will get to once they have kids or for at least a long time after they have kids.

I am thankful we went to Hawaii because with 3 kids there is no way I'd go there with out them now & I have no plans to take them there any time soon.

We went to Sandals St Lucia fir our honeymoon. It was nice but we're not the "do body shots and play pool volleyball" types and felt a little out of place. We hung around at the quiet pools with the older couples.
We went to Costa Rica (Manuel Antonio area) a few years later and fell in love! I really wished we had honeymooned there instead. We stated at a wonderful mid-priced hotel called Si Como No. There are more expensive hotels in the area but we were pleased there.

Wow not sure when you were in St. Lucia (and which Sandals , since there are 3 Sandals in St. Lucia) , but it was so not a body shot type of place when we were there.

Only Sandals we were ever at that was a party like that type atmosphere was Sandals Montego Bay and believe or not Beaches Turks and Caicos. But then w e returned a couple years later to Beaches and it was a quiet non party place. I think alot depends what time of the year it is and what type of folk are there during your stay.

This place is the cat's meow and it's not some formula resort. If they are truly looking for romance and beauty, this is the place.

It wasn't like that when we went, the second week of May. Lots of couples, but no body shots.

how fun to help plan someone's trip and how nice of you to do it.

A few questions you should ask them or may already know:

What is the total budget (for everything) that they want to spend?
How long do they want to go away for?
I assume from the 2 islands they mentioned that they want a beach vacation?
What do they like to do? golf? tennis? shop? water sports? sunbath?
Do they want a place where they can leave the hotel and travel around the island?
Are they interested in going to one place, being at the resort and just relaxing?

Some of my thoughts are that sometimes people have more time on a honeymoon and are willing to spend more money than on a normal vacation. If this is the case, i think going somewhere further (hawaii, tahiti, etc.) can make sense. If budget or time is more limted, the caribbean makes more sense. If they want to be able to rent a car and go off and do things during the day certain places (aruba, barbados, bermuda) come to mind. If they want a great beach, food and relaxation withou as much to see, than someplace like the dominican republic can be a very good deal.

My husband and I went on a Caribbean Cruise for our honeymoon and it was fantastic! The food was excellent and all included. We did nice excusrions every day we were in port, and we had plenty of time to just relax in our room together or at teh pool withotu havign to worry about going anywhere or wasting time waiting for reservations or anything.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far....I knew you all wouldnt let me down:thumbsup2. Neither of them have really ever travelled (except my brother to Iraq last year but that wasnt much fun...) so anywhere is going to be great for them...I will definately ask if they are looking to chill or want to get up and go...Im thinkin chill since my soon to be sister in law has a four year old so it will be a nice break. They know that I will leave no stone unturned to help them find a good deal and make it a great trip(thanks to all of you )!! Im sure I will be asking some of you more questions later as I get more into it thanks again and keep any suggestions coming!
